Chapter Eighteen
It was only two weeks before the fans found out. Harry and I were in the supermarket and I was grabbing groceries. Harry was being annoying and throwing unnecessary things into the cart. We were laughing and playing around. We stole a few kisses from each other stupidly unaware that we were in plain sight.
Well that night while I was peacefully lounging all comfy on the couch Niall texted me saying that our pictures were all over the internet. I turned on my laptop and signed on to twitter for the first time in a long time. As soon as I logged in I saw that I had gained a significant number of followers. My mentions were exploding and so were my messages. I had been used to some of it before. After all I was always around the boys and people knew I was Harry’s best friend and Liam’s girlfriend. The hate had gotten irksome so I just stopped going on twitter. I wasn’t bothered all that much once I stayed off twitter and minded my own business. I knew it was out there but I had learned to ignore most of it.
Oh but the second I put Harry’s name in the search bar our pictures came up. There were like thirty of them. Of us holding hands and kissing and laughing and smiling.
I sighed. I mean I knew it was inevitable but I could only imagine what these people were saying. At first I wasn’t going to look but it was too tempting. As predicted, they were upset. Mean names were being said and they had made collages of Liam and I and Harry and I. They went as far to compare me with the two boys.
Well isn’t that just splendid, I thought.
“What are you up to kiddo?” my aunt said coming from behind me.
“Oh nothing, just reading all the terrible things girls are saying about me.”
My aunt laughed and I gave her an incredulous look.
“You’re being serious?”
“Uh yeah. Apparently, and I quote, I am a ‘slut-face whore who confuses band members’.”
“Because of Harry?” she asked, worry evident in her face.
“Yeah, it’s worse than it was with-, well before…”
She sat down and put her arm around me. “Have you talked to Harry?”
“Haha, that will be a no. Niall was the one that told me. Besides there’s really nothing he can do. All he’s going to do is feel really bad and then get all worried about it. It’ll be fine.” I said, trying to convince myself more than anything.
“You’re right. It’ll get better.” she added, rubbing my back.
I nodded and started to get up. “I’m going to bed. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Me too, it was a hectic day at work.”
Waving her goodnight, I went back to my room and brushed my teeth. As I was climbing into bed my phone buzzed. I reached over and pulled it to my ear without really looking at it.
“Hello?”
“Hi beautiful.”
I smiled. “Hi Harry.”
“I just wanted to say goodnight.”
“How’d you know I was about to go to sleep?” I asked, curious.
“Just a guess…”
I could practically see him smiling on the other side of the line.
“Also to let you know that you need to come over tomorrow for an important discussion.” He added.
