Work, Work, Work is all I’ve been doing, thinking and breathing these last few months seeing as I have 2 jobs and a blind best friend that needs constant care so that’s a job all up in its self so 3 jobs for an 18 year old with a fake name and criminal record. You would think my mind would be on the paper I have to write for my online uni course but no, my mind is on a tasty pizza from across the street from me and Ash’s apartment.

“Raven, study” Ashton said from the couch shoving more popcorn into his mouth as he listened to Jersey shore his new obsession. I rolled by eyes at him and bit on the tip of my pen looking down at the paper trying to think of more reasons why a woman aren’t weak or powerless and so far I have 24 reasons and I needed to write short explanations to my 24 reasons then an essay on them but picking 6 of those reasons.. I hate English honestly Luke he could have gone with animals. Then my phone beeped from next to me on the floor and speak of the devil it was luke texting me.

Luke: Hey Raven

Me: Hi

Luke: I have to tell you something…

Me: yeah what I’m busy

Luke: Okay I’m lying to you…

Me: ??

Luke: When the Asylum invaded the house they took Calum and Michael with them thinking I was dead they left me in the house alone I’ve been looking for them ever since.

I stared at my phone and let out a loud laugh, this has to be a joke he wouldn’t just spring this on me…would he?

I grabbed my phone and dialled his number and waited.

“Hey, don’t hate me but yeah” was his first response

“Luke stop kidding around put mikey on the phone” I said getting to my feet and walking over to the widow.

“I’m not joking Raven! They’ve been gone since you left!” he shouted a worry tone in his voice

“AND YOU’RE TELLING ME THIS NOW?! RIGHT WHEN STUFF IS GOING MY WAY AND FUCK UP EVERYTHING AND THEY’VE BEEN MISSING FOR THREE MONTHS AND YOU THOUGHT TO COME TO ME NOW??” I bellowed into the phone anger and worry rising in my system, he went quiet and all I could hear was his breathing. I turned around and walked away from the window, in the background I could hear a car stereo playing “when I come around” by Green Day pretty loudly.

“You’re a real crappy person Hemmings” I said calmer running a hand through my hair untangling with my fingers.

“I know I’m sorry I keep ruining your life after I saved it” he said back, I frowned and sighed in annoyance.

“Okay so I know they’re in the Asylum but from what I’ve been told one of them is in pretty bad shape and will be getting a lobotomy tomorrow afternoon” he said and I could hear the sound of paper being flipped.

“A WHAT?!” I shouted

“Shut up I know it’s bad” he said calmly then a rush of air came through the speaker making it hard to hear him.

“Look I fucked up I took so long but I need your help for this, I have a plan” he sighed turning the music in the background down so we could hear each other clearer.

“Yeah, okay fine I’m in… what do I have to do?” I asked patting Ashton on the shoulder and resting my phone on my shoulder so Luke can’t hear.

“Look I’m gonna be gone for a couple of hours and I’ll be back so don’t throw any wild partys while im gone” I said earning a chuckle from him, I then pressed my phone back to my ear and caught the last few words of lukes sentence.

“What?” I asked walking into my room and slipping on a coat and my car keys.

“ I said you’re gonna have to help me break into the Asylum and get them out before they make a living potato out of one of them” he said and I could hear the car engine turn off and his keys rattle.

“You want me to break into a place I just escaped from?” I asked simply like asking a maths problem.

“Mhmm” was his only response, the excitement build in me and felt my heart beat speed up.

“You owe me, where are you?” I asked and there was a knock at the door.

“Outside”
