Chapter 8 - Motel Madness.
Miles of driving and the girls were more away from the destination. Aria still driving and unaware she was going the wrong way.
"BUT YOU NEED TO TAKE A RIGHT." Nikki yelled confused, looking at the huge map in her tiny hands with the help of the overhead light in the car.
"I WILL TAKE A RIGHT, WHEN THERE IS ONE." Aria yelled back, using her hand to make her see there was no track on the right side of the almost deserted road.
"Okay, you know what. You guys have been yelling for over 20 mins and we are still nowhere. Pull over Aria, let's stay in one place and figure out where the fuck we are." Ashley said, poking her head in between the front two seats, squishing Georgia to Alex.
"Fine." Aria grumbled, now more awake than ever.
Aria popped open a bottle of pills she stole from Ashley's house a few nights, in the bathroom of a beat up gas station. She needed these pills to stay awake. Aria been having theses nightmares about her family that kept her from sleeping and by now, she was way too afraid to sleep. Her family was always the happiest among the 5. But now she was questioning everything about it. Her mom have been working late. Or that's what she wants Aria's dad to think she's doing. Her father has been drinking a lot more. Her brother stopped calling to check on her. It seemed like everything was falling apart for her family. Of course, the girls knew nothing about this. For once, she couldn't tell them about this.
Aria shook her head from the memory and pulled up on the side of the road, getting out with the others.
"Okay, so we are here." Nikki said, pointing to a spot in the map.
"Let's trail back. Did we miss a turn?" Ashley asked, looking at the map with Nikki, standing next to Alex who was standing in between them, holding up a flashlight to help see in the map in the dark.
Aria leaned against the car along with Georgia as the other three discussed.
"Aria, when we left Hampshire, did you take a right or kept going straight?" Ashley asked, squinting at her in the lack of light.
"Right. Why?" Aria replied, her arms uncrossing from her chest.
"Ugh, you were supposed to go straight. That how we ended up here. " Ashley whined at her, placing both her hands on her face.
"The good news is we are not far away from Hampshire." Alex concluded, flicking the flashlight in her hand on Georgia's sleepy face to make sure she was paying attention.
"Argh guys, listen it's late, we are all tired and I just saw a motel a couple of miles back. Let's just crash there for the night and hit the road in the morning." Georgia said, blocking the white light from the flashlight Alex was annoying her with.
"Good idea, Georgie." Nikki said, lightly hitting Alex to stop and folding up the map.
"Yeah. I'll drive." Ashley said, going to the driver's seat.
Aria rolled her eyes to herself as everyone else got back in the car.
•••••
"This is the grand motel you saw?" Alex commented when the girls stopped in front of an old beat up motel.
"I never said it was grand." Georgia remarked, getting out of the car.
The girls tiredly trudged to the reception with their luggage. The sign at the entrance said, Toreador Motel. But the letters t,o,a,o and r of the word weren't flickering like the rest. Leaving the sign to say 'Red Motel.'
