Chapter 20 - Care to Care? 

"PASS IT. PASS IT. NIKKI, YOU IDIOT." Alex yelled out to. Nikki who was running across the field with a football by her feet. 

Nikki and Alex had taken the time off their classes to play some soccer with their juniors. The 5th graders were more than ecstatic for the them to join their game. After all they were quite known. 

The two older girls were on one team with 4 other kids and the team they were opposing consisted of 6 kids. 

The opposing team dashed towards Nikki and started grabbing the end of her shirt. They pulled her to the ground and sat on her, claiming their victory. Alex rolled her eyes playfully and as her opponents were distracted by tickling and sitting on Nikki, she took the opportunity and stole the ball and ran towards the goal. 

Alex scored a goal and cheered for herself. Nikki was also cheering under the kids that were oh-so-sweetly trampling her. 

"Ms. Jacob?" A voice called out behind her. 

Alex cringed at the voice, the principal of the school -Mr. Burns- had a voice that send shivers down one's spine when he was furious hence everybody knew he was coming from a mile away. 

Alex turned back and gave him a innocent smile. Mr. Burns and the girls had a quite a love/hate relationship. When they weren't burning down the closest building, he adored them. He liked the troublesome kids. And the girls were his favorites. 

"Aren't you supposed to be in class, Ms. Jacob. And kids, please get off Ms. Ford." Mr. Burns said in a very scarily calm tone. 

The meeting he had earlier that afternoon wasn't very pleasing and he had been in a bad mood since. 

Alex detected the anger in his tone and decided that she wasn't going to piss him off more by joking around and making fun of the stupid tie he was wearing that day. 

Nikki got up, dusting herself off as she glared at the kids. She walked and stood next to Alex. 

"Hey, Mr. Burns..." Nikki greeted innocently. "Nice tie.." 

He glared at both of them knowing that she was lying. 

"Detention. Both of you."

Ashley grumbled, stuffing her phone back into her pocket and turning her attention back to the teacher in the middle of the room teaching the parts of flower. 

She had been trying to get in touch with Niall for the past few hours and still no response. The bell rang and Ashley was the first one from the class to walk out.

She praised the lords that it was lunch time as she walked to the school ground. 

The girls usually ate their lunch in the middle of the school ground. Even when people were using it. 

Alex and Nikki were already there, sunglasses covering their eyes and goofy grins on their faces. 

Ashley forgot about her issue for a second as she walked across the ground towards them. Alex said something and Nikki pouted looking at the ground she sat cross legged on. Alex threw her head back, laughter erupting from her. Ashley stopped and looked at them smiling slightly. She picked up her pace and walked towards them. 

"Hey, guys." Ashley said in a slightly grumpy tone. 

Nikki and Alex looked at each other with a smirk on both of their faces, "Hello, Ms. Grumpy Grumperson." Alex joked as Nikki giggled.
