Chapter 1 - Catch Me If You Can 

The jumping of 5 year old April Jacob on her big sister's bed woke up Alex. "Ugh, what do you want?" Alex asked her, her head still on the pillow, quite annoyed that she was woken up. She loved her sleep. 

"Can you take me to the mall?" Little April asked her, innocent looking eyes bright as ever. "Why?" Alex said, getting up abruptly and almost knocking April off the bed. 

"Cause I want ice cream and mommy isn't going to take me." She said looking up at her groggy-still-half-asleep sister. 'Of course, you want ice cream at 1:30 in the afternoon' Alex thought rubbing her eyes. 

"Okay, whatever, get ready." Alex said, finally giving in. To be honest, she was also in a mood for some ice cream. She took her phone to her bathroom, texting Ashley about her plans with April and asked her if she wanted to join. 

After she received an quick 'okay', Alex brushed her teeth and took a quick shower. She walked back into her room, taking a quick scan of her wardrobe. She picked out a Coldplay shirt and her black ripped skinny jeans. 

Alex skipped down the stairs of her half modern and half antique decorated house. April was already sitting on the kitchen island where her mom was cooking something. "Good morning darling." 

Her mom cheerfully wished Alex. She smiled back at her mom, grabbed an apple and kissed her cheek goodbye. "Bye mom." She said in a rush, dragging April out the door with her cause she knew all to well that her mom is going to make a fuss about her getting up late and not eating breakfast or anything. She heard a voice yelling as she shut the door, "AT LEAST EAT SOMETHING, ALEXANDRIA JACOB!" 

Alex's mom was a sweet woman, always willing to help. Her dad was an workaholic but loved his children and his wife dearly. Alex had an older brother, who was currently in college with Aria's older brother. Coincidence that their brothers are as close as they are. 

"How are we going to the mall?" April asked, looking up at Alex. "Urm, we're gonna walk to Ash's house then she's gonna take her car." Alex replied, busy texting Ashely that they were about to come. 

Ashley lived literally 3 houses down from Alex's house. "Ashley's coming?" April asked, smile widening. "Yeah, she is." Alex replied. April has always looked at Ashley like her sister too. All her 5 years of life has been hanging out with Andrew, her older brother or Ashley and Alex. Alex worried sometimes if her sister loved Ashley more than she loved Ashley. 

They began walking towards the red door with the number 196, consisting of the Thompson's family. Alex threw away her half eaten apple at the Mason's yard. Ashley always complained about the Mason's, saying how sucked at being neighbors. April and Alex arrived at the door and Alex didn't even need to knock and walked in with April trailing behind. "Hey Alex!" One of Ashely's youngest brothers said, greeting her with a high five. The Thompson's was very much a family to her as her own. 

"Alex, how are you darling?" Momma Thompson greeted, going to hug Alex. Nancy Thompson, Ashley's mother, reminded her of own mother. She was the kindest woman she's met. After her own mom. 

Ashley's dad was also not around much, owning 3 different kind of businesses always kept him on his toes. Ashley had in total had 3 siblings. All of which was younger than her. A brother, a sister, and a brother. Which Alex considered her own siblings. The Thompson family was a laid back family. Only hot tempered when needed. 

"Hi, Nancy." Alex grinned at her second mother. "And you, hello dearie" Momma Thompson said, picking up April and hugging her. "How's your mom, Alex?" She asked. Nancy and Alex's mom, Susan were college best friends. Explaining Ashley's and Alex's first interaction.
