Chapter 22 - This love.
William Shakespeare once said, 'The course of true love, never did run smooth.'
This just didn't apply to two people in a relationship, it applied to anyone who cared and loved another. Love is said to be a blissful path but no one mentions the rocks called misery in the way.
Nikki sat by her kitchen counter as she looked at the marble table in shock. Her parents stood across her waiting for a reaction.
"So, we're moving?" Nikki asked dumbfounded.
Tara looked at her sadly, she knew that the moving would be hard for her. Nikki had stayed in Brooke Hills her entire life. Moving would be easy, but convincing her to leave would be the hard part.
"Nikki-" Tara was cut off with her husband yelling excitedly,
"Well, of course. We'll be living in London, munchkin. You love the rain, don't you?"
"I prefer the weather here, dad." Nikki said in a tone of utter sass.
Her father put his hand on his chin, "We'll have to do something about that then, huh?"
Nikki mimicked her father when she put her hand on her chin, "I've got an idea," She stood up abruptly, "How about we, oh I don't know, not move?"
Her father clicked his tongue, "No can do, doll. I have to take this job."
"Okay, you have to take the job. But I don't have to move. I'm not leaving." Nikki stated as she began to walk to her room.
Tara sighed as she shot an angry look to her husband at the manner he broke the news. Tara slowly followed her daughter to her room.
Nikki was huffing as she paced angrily around her room. Tara was afraid she'd make a hole on the floor with the way she walked.
"Nikki?"
"Mom, I don't want to move. My entire life is here, who cares if dad gets a bigger office? That doesn't mean I have to leave." Nikki rambled as Tara raised an eyebrow at her.
Tara put her hand on her hip, "I get that leaving would be hard, but you're being a little selfish right now."
"Selfish?" Nikki questioned in a tone louder than the one she had, "I'm being selfish? Oh I'm being selfish because I don't leave so dad could get more money with a job more simple?"
"Nikki, that's enough. Your dad has worked hard for this." Tara reasoned eerily calm.
Nikki scoffed in mock humor, "Well, good for him. But I'm not moving."
"Sleep it off, Nikki. Wake up and then get packing." Tara said, walking towards the door.
"Might as well never wake up then." Nikki muttered as Tara sighed, leaving the room.

The next day after school, Aria went by to Ashley's house. Maybe because she needed to borrow the eyeliner that Ashley had or maybe she was freaking out that tonight, Friday the 26th, would be the night she'd run away with Luke for the weekend.
Ashley swung her front door open and saw Aria looking quite nervous.
"Can I borrow your eyeliner and you?" Aria spoke, her hands shaking with anxiety, excitement and everything in between.
Ashley opened the door further, letting Aria enter as Ashley smirked at her.
The two walked to Ashley's room and upon entering, Aria plopped on Ashley's bed as Ashley went to her adjoined bathroom to search for the eyeliner.
