Chapter 25 - Life of the Party.
'Hello there, the angel from my nightmare' The music played through Alex's earphones as walked into the kitchen of her shared apartment with Nikki.
She woke up early, not knowing why. She figured it would be best to go for a run rather than to sit in her room wallowing in self pity.
She drank a glass of water and walked out of the apartment. Once she was out of the building, she started to jog.
'Don't waste your time on me you're already,
The voice inside my head. I miss you, I miss you'
She ran around town, she passed the local grocery store. The book stores, TJ cafe, the mall, her house and then she stopped at Aria's house. She pulled out one of the earphones as she panted, catching her breath.
Alex looked up at the Kale's residence and stared at Aria's bedroom window. She knew that it was far too early for anyone to be awake right now. She sighed thinking about how messed up the situation was and she was the main cause of it.
She put the earphone back on and continued on her run. She ran past Luke's house and didn't turn back.
Luke looked from his window and saw Alex running by, he sighed and plopped on his bed. He closed his eyes and replayed the last time they spoke.
'So what are you saying?' He asked her, he knew he was showing her his vulnerable side.
'I'm saying that I care more about Aria.' Alex replied, her tone was sharp and hurtful.
His heart fell as he nodded, he left her apartment without looking back.
Luke groaned as he tossed on the bed. Lying flat on his stomach and his face pressed against the pillow, he groaned once again.
Alex ran back to her building. She stopped at the mail room to see if she or Nikki had gotten any letters. After collecting the one letter and one magazine that Nikki subscirbed to, she walked to the elevator and pressed the button 4.
The lift elevated and stopped at the destination. As Alex got off the elevator and walked towards her apartment, the door of the apartment opposite to theirs opened up and a girl scurried out, heels in one hand, diminishing self respect in the other.
"So, call me?" She asked to the shirtless guy who leaned against the doorframe.
The guy scoffed at her attempt and shut the door. The girl had her jaw agape as she turned to Alex.
"Did you really think it was going to be more than a one night stand?" Alex asked rhetorically at the girl.
The girl rolled her eyes at Alex and fixed her short skin tight dress. She held her head up high snottily and resumed her walk of shame.
Alex shook her head at her and walked to her own apartment door. She realized that she had forgotten to take her keys.
She banged loudly at the door loudly, hoping to wake up Nikki. She stood outside for the next five minutes knocking loudly before the opposite door opened up once again and the guy yelled out, "CUT IT OUT, WILL YOU? I'M TRYING TO SLEEP IN HERE-"
Alex rolled her eyes at him as he stopped mid sentence and checked out Alex.
"Hey there. You're new here, yeah?" He asked, his tone changing to annoyed to flirty in a nanosecond.
"No shit." Alex muttered and banged the door with her first loudly again.
"You're locked out, huh?" He asked cockily. Alex turned around to see him leaning against the door frame with his arms crossed in front of his shirtless chest.
