The television played in the background, the noise filling the space when silence consumed the couple. It was not a silence of anger or sadness, but rather that of content and love. Joe was sat up, leaning into the corner of the couch, his leg closest to the back of the couch was bent and resting against it. His girlfriend was situated in between his legs, her back leaning up against his chest. She occupied herself by playing with his fingers, intertwining them with hers and twisting them around each other. Occasionally, she would pause momentarily when something captured her attention in the movie that was playing on the screen, but then she would get bored again and carry on messing around.

Joe, on the other hand, was absorbed in the movie and couldn't take his eyes off of the television. It was an action movie with lots of fighting and guns and speeding cars, not really Taylor's cup of tea. She let him choose the movie this time around. Normally, he would have to put up with watching chick flicks or rom-coms that he deemed too 'girly' for him, he didn't mind watching them every so often, but it was killing him. Taylor also knew that Joe had been wanting to watch this movie for such a long time and she felt bad denying him even longer so she let him, but she knew that it was two hours of her life that she wasn't going to get back again.

Although Taylor was completely bored and uninterested, she appreciated this one-on-one time that she got to spend with him. It didn't get to happen often. Either they were on different sides of the country or on completely different continents to one another. They may not have been talking but it was the intimacy and being able to run her hands through his hair or kiss the man she loved.

After a while, her eyelids drifted shut as she was put to sleep by the rhythmic movements of Joes breathing as her head lay on his chest. Joe's focus was on the movie, his fingers would twirl a strand of hair between them and then drop it and do it again. He laughed when Taylor was startled in her sleep from the loud noise of an explosion frightened her. Joe rubbed her arm, reassuring her that everything was alright. She repositioned herself, trying to get into a more comfortable position. She was awake now and knew that she probably wasn't going to fall asleep again. Taylor turned so that she laying on her side, facing the television. She grabbed his arm that was resting next to him and wrapped it around herself, using his bicep as a pillow.

Taylor tired to get a grasp on the movie, trying to figure out the storyline, if it even had one, but the movie only had around 35 minutes left so she had missed the majority of what was going on. Eventually, she just came to the conclusion that she would just have to make do with what she saw. Occasionally, she would hear a laugh coming from Joe but couldn't figure out how any of this movie could be considered funny but she just had to endure it a little while longer and then the pain would be over.

Even though she had told herself that she was not going to fall asleep again, she was woken up by Joe's fingers combing through her hair and kisses being placed on top of her head. "Do you want to go to bed, love?" She heard Joe whisper to her, silence had filled the room after the movie had come to an end. Taylor attempted to shake her head 'no' which was accompanied by a grunt. She was tired but they hadn't seen each other for what felt like forever, even though it was just over two weeks since they shared the same space.

Taylor turned her head so that her head was buried in the crook of his neck. She breathed him in, having missed being in this close proximity. If she could, she would stay like this for the rest of her life. She placed a few kisses against his neck, telling him that she had missed him and missed this, just the two of them. There were very few times that they were genuinely alone in their relationship. There was always someone else there, security, publicists, tour crew, family, friends, so they truly cherished this time. Since the tour ended things were a bit different but they had a lot of time to make up for.
