Calum's POV
I was furious. Jeremy was furious. There was so much rage in my small car I'm shocked that there wasn't steam coming from our ears and fogging up the windows.
"Calum, it's not a big deal."
"Shut up." I snapped.
I had both hands gripping the wheel insanely tight. I sent mum a text before we left school so she could call and excuse us. Before we went to the office to sign out I went to the bathroom and stopped my lip from bleeding, there was a bruise starting to form on my cheekbone under my eye. Jeremy wasn't too banged up seeing as he didn't actually fight.
Mum was off today and waiting for us to come home, I hadn't told her what happened, just said that we needed to come home.
When we walked in the door she immediately rushed over and grabbed my shoulders. "Calum, baby what happened?" She frantically asked, turning my head to the side and checking out the bruise on my cheek.
"Ask Jeremy! He's the reason this happened, him and that smart ass mouth of his." I pushed her hands away and turned to face Jeremy.
"Jeremy?" She turned to look at my younger brother with her eyebrows frowned.
"Calum doesn't even know what he's talking about!" Jeremy defended crossing his arms over his chest.
"Oh really?" I glared, "You opened your mouth and said something that got your ass nearly kicked. That guys was massive, Jer. He was bigger than you, bigger than me! what makes you think you could honestly take on someone like that?"
Jeremy shook his head and looked down.
"What did you say?" Mum asked.
"Nothing." Jeremy grumbled.
"You had to have said something for all of this to happen!" She placed her hands on her hips and narrowed her eyes.
"I called him a suck ass imbecile that probably can't tell yellow from orange and suggested that he may or may not have been dropped on his head several times as an infant ape."
"Jeremy!" mum gasped.
Jeremy looked down at the floor and slumped his shoulders, shifting from one foot to the other.
"You're an idiot, that guy could have demolished you. Why would you even say something like that to a guy like him?"
"He called you a faggot!" Jeremy yelled. "He called you a faggot and said a bunch of other things that I don't feel comfortable repeating in front of our mum."
My eyes widened as Jeremy breathed heavily after his outburst. He shoved past mum and ran up to his room. I heard the door slam and flinched at the sound.
He didn't come out of his room for the rest of the day, not even when I tried to talk to him. He'd turn up the volume on his music and drown me out.
The next day I skipped school so I wouldn't be seen with a fat lip and bruised cheek. I forgot that is agreed to go with Michael to the movies until he showed up at my front door with goofy smile.
"Oh crap." I mumbled when I saw him through the glass door. He waved and I slowly waved back.
I was still in the sweatpants I slept in and the same green lantern shirt from yesterday.
"H-Hi." I smiled when I opened the door.
"Hey, wow wicked bruise." He grabbed my chin and turned my head to the side. I gulped and nodded as he pulled his hand away, stepping aside to let him in.
"I'm gonna go shower and get dressed real quick, I'll be fit wen minutes I promise."
"It's fine," he shrugged. "Movie doesn't start until eight."
Quickly I showered and got dressed, sliding a beanie on since I didn't have time to let my hair dry and knocked on Jeremy's door when I walked by. "I'm going out, Jer. Tell mum and dad when they get home."
No response.
I sighed and made my way back downstairs. Michael was standing in the living room staring at a picture.
"Oh god." I groaned.
"You were so cute as a baby, look at your chubby little cheeks." He laughed.
I could feel my face heat up and an embarrassed smile form on my face.
"Can we go now?"
"Yeah." He nodded with a smile, still laughing a little at my baby picture.
