"We need you! Like, right now!" Kyle says.
I nod and leave the girls. We leave the common room to go somewhere. My instinct is to walk towards the library but Kyle drags me over to the room of requirements.
"What the-?" I ask.
He walks three times and a door appears. He opens it and nods for me to get in.
"Thank you?" I ask.
I get in to find Stan and Kenny sat there. Kyle comes in last.
"We figured out who the prophecy is about," Kyle says.
"Who?" Stan asks, surprised.
"Me," Kenny says, rising his hand.
The silence falls into the room.
"How did you figure-?" I ask.
"We had the duel, one thing led to another and we honestly thinks it doesn't fit anyone else in history better than me," Kenny says.
"Born from the two the dark king hates? Kenny. Squib and a muggle. Embrace the darkness. That's exactly what he did and has done for a while now," Kyle says.
"I thought you don't believe in prophecies," Stan says.
"Been thinking about it," Kyle says.
He look at Ken.
"I think it might just be a real one. Most of them aren't but that one is clearly from an age when giving a prophecy that surely wouldn't come true got the prophecy destroyed and you dead," Kyle says.
I nod along.
"Can we believe this evil is the king person then?" Stan asks.
Kenny sighs.
"I certainly hope not, I don't want to face the damn bastard," he says.
There is a long silence in the room before Stan decides to break it,
"Let's all try to figure something out and then meet up if something does come up."
We all nod.
"Wendy and Kyle are the smart ones. We should spit them," Kenny says.
"I'll take Stan. Mainly for the factor of him finding things way too easily. I swear, he's a hoarder and finds his stuff," Kyle says.
Kenny and I nod along and go into the library together.
"Stan. We're going somewhere else. C'mon," Kyle says.
They start walking towards the Ravenclaw common room.
"Okay. What can we find?" I ask.
Kenny starts reading through the names, taking a couple every now and again. He finally puts like thirty books on the table.
"Divination?" The Library man asks, as if it were really surprising.
"We are looking into the work," Kenny says.
"Honestly, it's just saying the most tragic things to get O's," he tells Kenny.
Kenny nods.
"We still wanna do something for it," he says.
We continue to read though the books. Nothing useful, all bullshit.
"Kenneth?" The vise headmaster asks.
Wendy and I look up.
"Kenny. We have an important letter," she says.
Kenny takes it, opens it and midway, he stops.
"No-not possible," he says.
"I'm sorry," The visa headmaster says.
He laughs, actually laughs.
"Who the hell did this?" He asks.
He looks furious.
"We suspect the evil king," she says.
Kenny gets up.
"I'm going to be sick," he says.
I take the letter and start reading, he doesn't stop me.
'Dear McCormick's. I'm afraid we have to inform you that your family has been struck with a tragedy. We want to get on the bottom of this, we do... but we think it might be impossible. It's understandable if you want to take a while out of schoolwork, this letter gives you the right to do so. Kenneth and Karen, your mother and father have been killed, assumptions would say it's murder as neither were magical and they had nothing of the likes of suicide letters. No marks, they were magical murders. Your brother has agreed to take you in along with his girlfriend and their family. Not adopt, meaning you may live with them for a few years. Our deepest apologies,
The minister of magic and the head of law.'
"How could this happen?" Kenny asks.
He hits his head on the table.
"This isn't right! No!" He screams.
The library wizard starts coming over.
"They killed my parents!" Kenny yells.
The library wizard nods to me, backing away.
"Kenny, lets get out of here," I say.
"I will murder him," Kenny says.
"No! Don't!" I yell.
"Oh trust me, I'll murder them the muggle way!" Kenny yells.
He walks out of the library and I run after him.
"HOW DARE THEY?" Kenny yells.
"Ken," I say.
"HOW DO THEY EVEN FUCKING DARE?" He asks.
I take his hand.
"Ken, calm down," I say softly.
"CALM DOWN?! CALM DOWN?!" He asks.
He faces me. I feel so small with how threatening he looks.
"What the fuck?" Stan asks.
He drags Kenny away.
"I-I. Calm down, Ken," I say.
Kenny starts crying, hysterically.
"What going on here?" Karen asks.
I give her the letter. She reads it, looking at it like it was garbage afterwards.
"How dare they?" She asks.
It's scary how familiar these two are. But she doesn't sound angry, emotionless more.
"Ken," she says.
Kenny hugs her, as if knowing what her voice means.
"What's going on here?" Jessica asks.
Kenny lets out a scream. Kyle runs to the both of them and hugs them. There's something to him with these two, they're like family.
"My parents are dead," Karen says.
Now it's Stan getting over, a lot more careful than Kyle. I sigh and come to hug them too. Kenny is my closest friend after all.
"I-I need a moment," Kenny says.
He leaves us alone, walking outside. Karen take a breath, muttering something like 'he needs me.'
"You're welcome at mine anytime," I say.
Kyle nods.
"I'm sure I can get that done as well," he says.
Stan nods.
"We are free to come to as well," he says.
Karen cries for the first time. Kyle immediately gets better on her level and she puts her head on his shoulder, crying.
"There you go," Kyle mutters.
He's doing what people do while comforting. Like, really well.
