Chapter 19: Another promise

Chris's POV

Amanda told me that she will go out and waiting for the guests. I know she's really looking forward to seeing Simon, judging by her widely smile. Even though I don't want her to do that, I realize I couldn't stop her, so, I'm preparing for the dinner inside
I heard the noise outside, they must have come. A few minutes later, David and Alesha walks in and say hello to me
-It's been a while, Chris. How do you do?
Alesha and David both said at the same time
-Oh, I'm fine. How about you?
I replied, then give Alesha and David a hug
-We're both good. And, congratulations for your second child!
-Thanks. By the way, where is Amanda, and Simon?
I asked
-I thought they've been here before, haven't they?!
-Let me see...
I step to the window to check where my wife is. That's when a scene of Amanda and Simon hugging tightly catch my sight. I try calming down, and ask Alesha to go outside
-Would you mind going outside and tell Amanda and Mr.Cowell to come in? I don't want you guys waiting for them

Alesha's POV
I can see anger express clearly on Chris's face after has seen Amanda hugged Simon so I quickly go out and bring them in.
-What took you so long wifey?
I asked her. We're heading into the house
-Just some nonsensical greeting!
She blushed
-You just startle. What happened to you Amanda?
-Cause I don't want you to misunderstand. I just can't stop being foolish like that when seeing Simon again
She sighed
-I know honey, you guys are really close. But you should be careful with your reaction Manda. Don't seem to be confused or like you try to conceal something... Moreover, I think Chris doesn't like it when you are so close with Simon
-Alright. You know I won't cross the limit Ali

Simon's POV
We're all sitting and having dinner. I don't know the reason why but Chris seems to upset with me. He keeps starring at me during the meal. I try my best to avoid his look, which makes me feel quite annoyed
-It must be really uncomfortable to be in the middle of the pregnancy right?! Poor you honey
Alesha said
-Not really, just wonder how glad I am to see my baby be born, I would forget al the pain
She smiled charmingly. I want to focus on the meal, but there's is actually something inside Amanda's eyes that attracted me
-Is it a boy, or a girl?
- A little girl, David
-So that would be your second daughter. By the way, where's Lexi?
David asked
-Oh, she's sleeping upstairs. She was quite tired after had been playing all the evening at the park
Chris replied
After completing our diner, we're heading to the garden and have idle talk with each other. Amanda hasn't got out yet, I turn into to look for her, suddenly, I hear some loud noise inside
-Haven't I told you not to misunderstand? You clearly know there's nothing between us!
It's Amanda's voice, shouting angrily
-I want to, but how could I not, when seeing my wife did that to another man
I soon realize everything, Chris must have been jealous.
-Fine, if you keep being stubborn like this, I won't care. Simon is my boss, and my friend, that's all. Stop being nonsense
-Gosh, I think we've awaken Lexi. I think I've heard she's crying upstairs... Let's just stop talking, the guests are still here, and Lexi is sleeping upstairs
I stand for a while and then decided to open the door
-Simon...!
She startles
-You have heard all?
-Not really, but enough for me to understand what's going on. Are you fine?
I said
-It should be me who ask you this question. Sorry Simon, Chris is quite hot-tempered sometimes
-It's ok. However, he shouldn't let you be angry these days, especially when you're pregnant!
I walk toward her, and put my hands on her shoulder
-Let's go outside, Alesha and David are waiting
She said
-I hope your daughter will be a beautiful and kind girl, just like you
I chatted with her on the way out
-I thought you don't want her to bare resemblance as me
-I'm just kidding. You're still remembered that?!
She didn't answer me, just smiled back. After talking for a while, it's time for us to get home. David and Alesha suggested going out for a late night drunk, but I turned their offer down because I'll have an important meeting tomorrow
-I really hope you could come Simon
David seems sad, he hugged me tightly likes he never want to let me go
-Gosh!!! Should we let these two men have their own date!!!
Amanda screamed in excitement
-You've already got Alesha, haven't you?!
I smirked. Alesha's face turned red
-Let's just go David!
Alesha quickly hold David's arm and pulled him
-Have a nice date, wifey! Best wishes for you guys
Amanda waved
-Alesha and David look really lovely together right!... Anyway, I think you should leave Simon, I'm afraid Chris won't be happy
-It's ok darling. It's quite late now too. You should go back and have a rest
-Thanks for worrying about me Simon. And thanks for coming today
She said
-I wish you and your daughter will be fine. Little baby, good night! Uncle Simon really love you, and your mom
I stoop down to fondle her stomach, and then kiss her smoothly on her forehead
-I hope you will find somebody and raise a happy family. Don't just live a life like this. You don't know how wonderful it is the day you become a father. Promise me this time next year, I can meet your girlfriend
-That's a really hard promise to keep. I will try, if there is someone can stand me
I smiled back and then get on my car and leave before Chris comes downstairs
Amanda is the only woman who could stand me for that period of years, she's also the only person who can make me laugh freely. However, because I've promised her, I think it's time for me to find someone else
