Waves

The waves engulf me
I'm dropped lower
The sunlight begins to fade
The fish around swim along
My lungs beg for air
I try to swim to shore
But the waves are too powerful
My arms flail
I'm trying to reach
but I'm just being dragged down
The fish stare and begin to judge
My cheeks burn fire red
I need to get away
I suck in the bitter water
A cough builds inside
But I push it down
The water becomes dimmer
My eyes become blurry
Arms become numb
I can't feel anything
I wish I could just
Go home
