"The enemy?" I raised an eyebrow, yup Chrissie was definitely crazy. A sigh came from the other side of the table as Alma looked up and rolled her eyes, "Her name's Ella, Chrissie's rival, they aren't enemies, she's just being dramatic," This was the first time I had seen Alma look up from her book and I saw her face in full. She had flawless skin and deep brown eyes. Her lips were plump and pink and she had a superstar body with long tanned legs and a tiny waist, she was the kind of girl I would expect to be doing god knows what with the football players. She pushed a lock of wavy blonde hair behind her ear, "And if you’re wondering why they're rivals, which I know you are, it's because Ella is the only girl in the school who gets higher grades then Chrissie. Plus she's the school's queen bee and apparently everyone loves her, but in my opinion, she's a bitch. So yeah, that's why she's 'the Enemy'"
The question that had been on the tip of my tongue just spilled out.
"What book are you reading?" Scott snickered and I shot him a glare as I walked over to sit next to Alma. She looked up at me, her face showing pure shock, our staring match went on for a few seconds until she broke into a massive smile. "The Fault in Our Stars."
Fangirling. So. Hard right now.
The whole way to class Alma and I talked about books. Yes, we are nerds. Chrissie spent the entire time staring at Scott, daydreaming about... their future babies maybe? I don't know her life. I glanced over to Scott and saw his eyes scanning up and down my body, making me feel uncomfortable for the millionth time that day. I tried to push his eyes away with my mind and focus on what Alma was saying but it didn’t work. “Scott can you stop freaking staring at me and being a creep? It’s weird.” He looked shocked at my sudden outburst and seemed to think I didn’t notice. As soon as he got over the shock that damn smirk of his broke out on his face like a zit.
“Sorry Summer, stop having a hot body and it won’t be a problem.” He gave me a lopsided grin that on most boys would be cute, but it just earned him a glare. From the corner of my eye I saw Chrissie melt a little at the sight of him, damn that girl had it bad.
The rest of the day was… interesting.
Having all the attention of nearly everyone in the school, however, was not anything even resembling enjoyable. There seemed to be something about me that Ella found interesting, or annoying or… devilish because she seemed to be staring at me trying to figure me out all day. And it was bothering me. By sixth period I gathered up the courage to go up to her and talk to her, with Alma by my side of course. Well, to be completely honest, it only took till right after lunch for me to gather up the courage but it took four periods to convince Alma to come with me.
I walked up to Ella, who was sitting on the lap of a boy. No surprises there. “I… uh…” All of a sudden I seemed to have lost the ability to speak. I heard a chuckle coming from underneath Ella’s tent of long, blonde, shiny hair. She turned her head and revealed a pair of beautiful blue-green eyes. These eyes were attached to a face, and what a face. He had high cheek bones and a perfect jaw. He looked like some kind of Greek god. He had tanned mixed race skin and plump pink lips. His hair was in a small-ish Afro but it looked perfect on him.
I think he noticed me staring.
He raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow at me and gave me a lopsided grin. Scott could learn some lessons from this guy. I could feel my face heating up so I turned my attention back to Ella.
"Why have you been staring at me all day?" She smiled at me, causing Alma to almost growl next to me.
"I like your style. Are you a model?" I hate it when people answer a question with a question. Though I will say the model comment knocked me off guard. The bell rang, making me jump and earning me another chuckle from the boy. That boy had a nice laugh. "Oh well, see you tomorrow model. Oh, and the boy you were staring at is Jordan, my boyfriend. Remember that last bit, kay?"
Jordan, huh?
