A young kit woke up mewling, completely unsure of where she was. She was starving. It was a long time until someone found her. It was a Greenclan warrior named Mudspeed. "Oh, owl pellets!" He said "who's kit is this?" He sniffed her and couldn't scent which clan she was from. "Wow, ok" he thought sighing. He picked her up by the scruff and she immediately stopped crying. They were only half way there and Mudspeed tripped over a root. His feet scampered but he failed to stand still; but before he fell he raised his head so that he wouldn't hurt the poor kit. Even though he didn't really like kits, he couldn't bear to see one harmed. He got up quickly and more carefully walked back to camp. The Greenclan deputy, Stormclaw walked up to Mudspeed and scoffed. "What? Instead of prey you brought back... a kit?" Mudspeed gulped. Stormclaw was more intimidating than the clan's leader, Gloomstar. Mudspeed put the small kit down and replied. "I found her in the forest. She doesn't seem to belong to any clan." Stormclaw sighed. "Just ask one of the queens to take care of it."
So Mudspeed picked her up again and she squealed. "Calm down, little scrap" he said with a mouthful of fur. He carried the kit to the nursery den. The young medicine cat, Treestump greeted him. "Oh, hi, Mudspeed!" She said purring. "Hey" he said a bit coldly. "I found this kit in the park, got any queens to take care of her?" Treestump laughed awkwardly and said "sure! It makes sense that you don't know any of the queens, since you never visit the nursery!" They just stared at each other and Treestump sighed. "Longclaw could take care of another kit" she said with a bit of sadness in her voice. She started to lead Mudspeed to Longclaw. Mudspeed realized how awkward he made the situation. "Hey, Longclaw!" Treestump said, bumping Mudspeed out of his thoughts. "Shush! They're sleeping!" Longclaw hushed. Mudspeed put the little kit down and Treestump started asking. "There's this little kit that Mudspeed found in the forest," she pointed with her nose to the kit. "Is there any chance you could take care of her?"
Long claw looked at the kit and looked at her own kits. She deeply inhaled and exhaled and finally answered. "Of course I will," she told them. "I couldn't bare to see a kit perish."
