Flowerfox sobbed after finishing the story. Nuttree felt tears flow out her eyes as well.
There were a lot of things Nuttree took from this story.
Nuttree was actually Petalkit.
Yellowpaw was actually Specklekit.
...
"Okay... that was a lot" Yellowpaw examined. "And I'm not sure what to make of it."
Flowerfox stood up. "It's getting late" she meowed, ignoring Yellowpaw. "We have to get back to camp in time for the ceremony."
Nuttree perked her ears. "Ceremony? What ceremony?"
Flowerfox started padding forward. "Your father is giving you your DawnClan names" she explained casually. "So let's go."
The dark ginger she-cat dashed forward. Nuttree followed her and Yellowpaw did too.
They quickly arrived at the beach. Nuttree still wasn't accustomed to walking in sand yet.
As soon as Lionstar saw the trio, he hopped onto the log and called for a Clan meeting. "Good evening, DawnClan. Today we are renaming two cats to assure their presence in our Clan.
These cats are my daughters."
Most of the cats looked confused. One river coloured cat looked quite optimistic though. "Ooh! New cats, Bluejay! Isn't that interesting?"
The light grey tom next to him shrugged. "I guess..." he muttered.
Lionstar spoke again. "My daughter." He meowed while looking into Nuttree's eyes. She didn't like that look. It looked like it was a mix of love and hunger. "Your name as a kit was Petalkit, which of course, fits you very well, considering your petal like fur."
Nuttree couldn't go along with this any longer. "I'm sorry, Lionstar, could I interrupt?" The golden tom raised his lip in annoyance. "What is it?"
Nuttree lowered her head. She was really scared to defy a Clan leader, but she had to go through with this.
"I really appreciate... this... but I am a loyal cat of GreenClan. I was raised there and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Even if you are my father and Flowerfox is my mother..." she looked up to see Lionstar glaring at her. She decided it was best to not carry on.
"You think that's clever?" He chided.
"N-no, I-"
"I am the Clan leader and your father!"
Nuttree didn't know what to say.
"Runningriver, Bluejay, bring her to the medicine den."
She hadn't fully registered what he had said when the river coloured she-cat and the grey tom seized her. Nuttree yowled in pain as one of them sank their fangs into her neck fur. She tried to twist and claw her enemies, but they tugged her to a hole in the hill. Suddenly she felt herself dropped onto a bed of some slimy kind of grass. She raised her head but then the tom pushed her back down. Then she saw a fluffy white she-cat walk in with a purple flower with a nice scent. The she-cat dropped the flower in front of Nuttree. "Eat, please. We'll let you go soon, I promise." She felt the tom let go of her head.
Even though Nuttree didn't know the she-cat, she felt comfortable near her. So she did what she said. She licked the flower into her mouth, chewed and swallowed.
She soon felt herself barely able to keep her eyes open. "Have a good sleep, dear."
Everything went black.
