This actually happens no matter what movie and it is the most idiotic thing I've ever known. Imagine this:
You are hiding from a killer, you don't think you can escape when all of a sudden you get caught by your fate and a killer finds you. You make it to the entrance hall in your home and you have 2 options; go up the stairs or exit the front door.
OK so now youre going to got through the front do.... DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! We all know that the stairs where it's easy to get trapped is the way to go. Like in The Shining. The woman clearly knocks down her psychopathic husband and leaves the stairs clear for herself to run away and BE FREEEEEEEEEEEEE but she doesn't do that. Instead she turns on her heels and runs up the stairs trapping herself for eternity.

I've never seen The Shining fully but I can garuntee that that woman does not deserve to survive. Also eventhough I haven't seen it all I feel like the front door could still be an option. To be fair, even if the door wasn't an option she probably has more of a chance of surviving downstairs anyway as most downstairs rooms are connected in one way or another.
