When I came downstairs it seemed as though Jess and I had been up in my room for hours. Tons of people were already playing music and dancing in the guest hall.
I walked out with Jess and made it in. So many people had showed and I knew not even half of them. I remember holding on tight to Jess’s arm and starting to get anxious.
“Don’t worry Jules, They are just people, they don’t bite”
I tried to smile at people walking past me but I think I was just coming off as creepy. Jess was so open with people she didn’t know. She immediately gave out hugs and kisses on the cheeks. She introduced me to Greg and Kasey, her friends from cosmetology class.
“These are my two favorite sluts, Greg and Kasey!”
“Oh please doll, speak for yourself!” Greg said pointing to Kasey, who was inconspicuously fixing her boobs in her dress.
“What? You know what they say, if you’ve got it flaunt it!” Kasey said, slurred in her speech.
“I swear to GOD! Kasey! Every time we go somewhere you have to be embarrassing me! Could you not nip and tuck your puppies in the public, you’re scaring away the fresh meat!”
Greg said waving at the passing people.
“So how long have you two been going out?” I stupidly asked Kasey and Greg. They just looked at each other and laughed loud. When I asked what was so funny Greg just looked at me and said, “Oh honey, you are so adorable! Let’s just say…Kasey’s not my type.” He said trying not to be rude to me.
“Oh…so you don’t like red-heads?”
The both of them nodded and hissed with laughter and sipped their drinks. Jess finally had to pull me to the side and tell me what he really meant by ‘not his type’.
After being introduced to the rest of Jess’s friends, she went off to talk to Markus and left me alone by the chips and salsa. I was surrounded by people dressed in black and white, which was the theme, and moving bodies on the dance floor. I just grabbed a drink and stood in the corner.
Across the dance floor I saw a guy staring at me. He was a little less than average in height with piercing blue eyes and a little longer and darker hair than Noah’s. I couldn’t really tell but it looked from where I was standing that he had a piercing on his lower lip. He had a stoic expression that made me freeze in my tracks. It wasn’t so much that he scared me, but more like I couldn’t stop looking over at him. I’d never seen someone like him before. I was just curious about him that I starting staring. I guess I was doing it a lot because at one point he looked at the ground and smiled to himself, then looked back up at me. I didn’t smile back I just looked away quickly, only to look back again. When I looked back up he was gone. For some reason he reminded me of an Arctic Fox. Just the way he was in and out, very sneakily. And for the sake of not knowing his name at the time, I’ll call him Arctic Fox
Just at that moment, I felt a small tap on the small of my back; someone wrapped their arm around me. I looked up, imagining his sharp blue eyes, only I didn’t see them. Instead I saw a big, brown, pair of puppy ones. It was Noah; he must’ve just arrived at the party.
“Hey you look great.” he said sort of quietly in my ear and lightly kissing my cheek.
“Thank you! It was all Jess’s doing.”
“Speaking of Jess, where is she? We have to go tell her.”
“Well, she’s outside, talking to someone. We should wait a little while. Are you thirsty? Want a drink?”
“Yeah! I’d love a Coke and Rum, on the rocks, hold the Rum.” We both started laughing, stumbling into the kitchen.
After a couple of fun awkward dances with Noah, we decided to go find Jess and tell her. We split up and looked in and around the cliques of people. We didn’t bother calling for her on account of the blasting music.
- (Noah’s point of view)-
Jules and I were looking everywhere for Jess, but couldn’t find her anywhere. We checked every room, closet, corner, and group of people. Eventually we just gave up and I said I would go check outside again. As I looked around I didn’t see anything or anybody, but I did hear a slight rustle in the bushes. When I walked closer I heard a couple moans.
