Chapter One Part I (ED)

Updated 3/13/15: Hey, lovely readers! First of all, I hope you enjoy the first volume of Destiny! It's going through editing as of now, so that means there will be some transitional periods. I'll mark each edited part with an (ED) as I go about this process, and it would be awesome if you guys pointed out any mistakes you catch while reading this book! Also, a few notes because there will undoubtedly be some confusing points as I make the change:

1.) The terms G-Ma and G-Pa are going to be replaced with Móðiras and Faðiras respectively just as Mom(my) and Dad(dy) will be replaced by Mor (Móði) and Far (Faði).

2.) Nathan's nickname "Nat" is going to be re-spelled as "Nate" (which is how it was originally pronounced anyways).

3.) Leafë's hair color is going to be changed from black to silver.

4.) I learned that the correct (Nordic) matronymic way of naming daughters is by adding -sdóttir to the mother's name, not -sdaughter as Paolini does nor -sdoter as I have done (haha at least my way was closer). In favor of being as historically as accurate as possible, I'm changing the last names with -sdoter to -sdóttir.

5.) Ophelia's name was supposed to be spelled as Opheila.

6.) Speaking of Opheila, according to an interview with Paolini, dragon twins are two dragons that hatch from a single egg, so that's how it's gonna be for her and Silveran.

7.) Speaking of dragons, Vanilor wasn't a wild one, so his Rider can indeed have a gëdwey ignasia while his egg was brought to Alalëa by a certain now-silver-haired elf.

8.) The numbering system is normal save for numbers such as twenty-three being "twenty and three", just like they were in the original books. Sorry for the earlier mistake on my part, guys!

9.) Niaomi's tattoos are only on one arm rather than both forearms.

And that's about all of 'em, though there may be some additions every once in a while, so check back here for updates! Chapter 1

Eragon, Arya, and Nasuada were inside the big red pavilion, planning their next steps.

"We've finished securing Feinster," said Nasuada. She pushed her thick black hair out of her eyes as she looked over at Eragon. "Thanks to you and Saphira, casualties were much lower than our estimates."

Eragon ducked his head, blushing slightly at Nasuada's hard-won praise. "Thank you, my lady," he said, slightly inclining his head in her direction as Saphira hummed.

Nasuada smiled, her teeth sharply contrasting her dark brown skin. "Now, Eragon, there isn't a need to be so formal. We're all friends here, right?"

He glanced over at Arya. She looked at him, her deep green eyes seeming to pierce his own, before turning away sharply. His heart felt the familiar flare of sadness and pain. "Yes," Eragon said, turning back to Nasuada. "We're all friends."

"Excellent." Nasuada looked over at her marked candle, noting the time. "Now, I believe I have a meeting to attend."

Eragon and Arya stood up as Nasuada passed them. Saphira pulled her head out of the tent through the flap designed specifically for her. She stretched, her long neck uncoiling as she flashed her sharp teeth in a yawn. As Nasuada emerged from the pavilion, her personal guard, the Nighthawks, came to attention. They were a mixture of Urgals, humans, and dwarves. This diversity had been Nasuada's attempt at convincing the races to work together; or more specifically, convincing the human and dwarves to overcome their biased hatred of the Urgals.
