1/2 - cheronica fanfic

10: veronica

veronica had had a good day... ish. that tour guide girl had kind of weirded her out. like, seriously? who talks about their anger issues when the meet someone for the first time? definitely weird. then again, she kind of liked it. veronica didn't know if that was the bi side of her talking, or just her own self wanting to be friends with this cheryl girl. veronica couldn't decide what to think of her, did she like her or not? maybe it was a mixture of both. cheryl was different. didn't seem very confident around other people, but she also didn't seem like the shy type. she was a mystery, and veronica thought that was hot.

she shook her head. she had to stop thinking about cheryl. she had other things to think about that weird/hot tour guide. she had met another girl too today. she was nice, but she was also kind of weird. maybe that was just how people were in this town.

{flashback to earlier that day}

veronica was standing a little while from the cafeteria. who should she sit with? cheryl was sitting with a bunch of girls, and they were all in black sport shorts and white shirts with yellow sleeves. maybe the cheerleading squad?  veronica thought. seemed likely. she had heard there were cheerleaders at this school, even though she wasn't sure it as even a thing anymore. anyways, there was also a group of weird boys and girls in a dark corner, all wearing black leather jackets with snakes on them. veronica decided to stay away. she didn't want to associate herself with some emo weirdos. there was also another table with a blonde girl, a redheaded boy, a brunet boy and a dark haired boy. they seemed the most approachable.

"uh, hey. mind if i sit?" veronica smiled awkwardly.

"of course!" the blonde girl moved over and smiled at her. "you're new, right? your name is like, victoria or something. principal weatherbee was talking about you."

"uh, i'm veronica lodge. what's your name?"

"oh, well, i'm betty cooper," she pointed to the redhead "this is archie". archie waved a little. "this is kevin keller" she gestured to the brunet, "and finally" she kissed the raven haired boy sitting beside her, "this is my boyfriend jughead jones."

"hi" veronica couldn't think of anything else to say.

"so how's your first day at riverdale high been?" archie asked.

"good, i guess." she shrugged.

"i heard you got toured by cheryl blossom." kevin leaned in like he was gossiping.

"uh, yeah. why? does it matter?" she asked. 

"she's not the nicest person let's say." kevin explained. "just ask betty. cheryl's been bullying her since the 7th grade." betty gave kevin a look.

"that's weird. she seemed nice when she was talking to me." veronica frowned.

"that's probably because you came from new york. she wants to recruit more rich and fancy people for her squad of minions." kevin gestured towards the cheerleaders.

"oh my god kevin. that's honestly so cliche. a group of cheerleaders being mean to someone less popular? seriously?" betty rolled her eyes. "cheryl isn't that bad. i just wouldn't want to be friends with her. she's kind of unstable, and i don't want you to have to deal with that, especially because you're new."

"betty only says this because she's a total angel. she doesn't have a mean bone in her body." jughead smiled at his girlfriend.

"awh thanks babe." she kissed him on the cheek. "but that's not entirely true. remember how i beat up chuck when he tried to get it on with me?"

"yeah that WAS pretty epic." archie laughed.

"i still don't understand how cheryl could be mean. she seemed really nice." veronica sighed. it wasn't exactly true, cheryl had accidently gone off at veronica for not listening, and she HAD said that she had anger issues. maybe veronica just didn't want it to be true. 

"well, it is. she is i mean. we call her an it sometimes because she doesn't seem like a real human person." kevin said, eating his chips very loudly. "she just goes off at people for no reason. it's been this way since 7th grade." even though 4 people were telling her that cheryl was a bad person, for some reason veronica thought there was more to it. maybe she'd just have to ask cheryl later. she couldn't today though, she had to finish unpacking.
