cheryl was currently just rolling with whatever happened next.

going with the flow. not that she didn't want to be there, with veronica, kissing, hugging, laughing... ugh, it was all so unbelievable. she had known she liked veronica for... how long had she known? a month? two? it was hard to say if she was being honest. she had thought she liked veronica as a friend, then she started questioning if she like liked her, and eventually she had just come to terms with the fact that she did. it was hard to say when she realized it. but she did, and now, she was here, with the girl she liked, acting like a...couple? was that what they were? cheryl had no idea. she didn't know how to be a couple. the only thing she knew about couples was from tv shows and movies and books. she was clueless as to what real couples did. so she was just letting veronica take the lead.

the last two days (since it was the weekend) had been great. cheryl and her girlfriend -- wow, that word seemed so foreign to her, like it didn't even belong in her vocabulary -- had spent the entirety of it together. it wasn't anything special, just what they normally did together, except some kisses were slipped in.

cheryl probably had a mark on her arm because she kept pinching herself to see if it was a dream. but she had never woken up. it wasn't a dream, she was really dating veronica. that scared her. she wasn't scared of veronica herself per se, but she had no idea what to do. she had never been in a relationship before, her last real friend she had had been betty cooper in seventh grade, but that was ancient history, almost five years ago. cheryl had been really insecure just being around veronica, being her friend, and now they were dating? it was way too much to contemplate. she desperately hoped veronica wouldn't leave her once she realized she was completely clueless.

also, what was going to happen on monday, when they went to school?  cheryl had almost forgotten the whole betty/archie/closet thing had happened. what would veronica do, hang out with her almost-raped friend or her new girlfriend who pretty much caused the almost-raping? it was an obvious choice. she should hang out with betty. cheryl sighed. how long would they have to keep their relationship a secret? not just the dating, but them being friends too. everyone would judge veronica for being with her, and cheryl couldn't do that to her. it wasn't right. she took deep breath, searched her contacts for veronica (which wasn't hard, veronica was the last person she had texted) and called her.

"hey babe, what's up?" veronica asked.

"veronica? we need to break up."
