what just happened? veronica thought as she got into the limo. it had all gone by so fast she barely knew what was going on. well, i was getting cheryl, and then i said something about her weird past with betty that i still know nothing about but its prolly not a great one considering cheryl got mad at me and called me a bitch, then said sorry but i was upset and told her to just get in the car. that was a lot to take in. now what? do i have to avoid her? how will i even get through this party without talking to cheryl? how-- but it was time to get out of the car. they were there.
chuck's house was pretty big, there was a pool and some flashy lights spurting from the windows. the girls and guys walked to the house (cheryl and veronica keeping a safe distance away from each other but still stealing glances), and chuck greeted them. he mostly talked to archie because they were both on the football team but he winked at cheryl and she shook her head. what was that? veronica thought. it was really weird and she couldn't help but worry as to what that could mean. cheryl's voice echoed in her head like 'cHuCk sPiLlS aLl yOuR sEcReTs' over and over and veronica kept wondering what that could mean. when would he do it? how would he do it? why would he do it? veronica told herself to just enjoy the party, have fun, dont worry.
the whole 'having fun and not worrying' thing was thrown out the window when chuck called everyone to a room to play a game. everyone sat in a semi circle facing chuck.
"cheryl?" he asked. holding his hand out for her to take.
"no, chuck, i told you i wasn't doing that this time. do it alone."
"aw, cher bear, you don't mean that."
"i do. you can get one of your lame football player jock buddies to help if you want but im sitting this one out."
"cmon cheryl, just do it!" someone called from the back of the room. the whole room started chanting 'cheryl' like little kids. cheryl desperately looked at veronica to see what she wanted her to do.
"yeah, cheryl, just do it." veronica said, not even realizing what was going on. she just wanted cheryl to feel alone, which, she knew was a terrible thing to say, but she pushed those thoughts away. cheryl sighed.
"fine." she said, and took chuck's hand.
"listen up hobos and hobettes, its time for secrets and sins." cheryl announced, as if nobody mattered in that room. veronica was kind of shocked at how different she seemed. like a whole new person. it was probably all in her head though.
"first up, betty cooper." cheryl said.
"god cheryl, can't you just this once leave me the fuck alone? i never did anything to hurt you." betty said. "find someone else to be the one you pick on. i'm not having it anymore."
"hm, should i pretend i care about anything you just said?" cheryl acted like she was thinking hard, stroking an invisible beard and staring at the ceiling.
"nah, lying is just too hard for me. announcing the truth is more my style, and thats exactly what i was just about to do." betty looked angry, but scared at the same time. veronica felt the same way. was was going to happen?
"so, betty cooper." cheryl sneered, but it was a bit toned down, and it didn't last for long, kind of like cheryl was afraid of herself just as much as everyone else.
"everyone thinks you're such the perfect girl next door, perfect grades, perfect family, perfect body, and of course, you cant forget the one imperfect thing about her. her boyfriend. yes, betty cooper could've chosen a perfect boyfriend to go with everything else, but instead she chose a loner. a loser, an insecure wannabe savage weirdo. it might somewhat add to her perfectness because that makes her kind, providing charity for the needy. which means her personality is also perfect."
