The match had started like all the rest. First the prep bell, then the starter, followed by the two parties rushing each other. Dawn's blood was on fire as he and the Physical 'talent' boy exchanged blows. The other boys had an advantage due to his enhanced strength and speed, but Dawn had his own advantage... his healing.

He could sacrifice getting hit a few times in order to land some nasty and effective hits. Then, when his opponent took a moment to get his bearings, Dawn would heal himself. It wasn't the fastest way to accomplish the goal, but it was worth the wait. The other boy was getting tired, while Dawn seemed to be exactly how he started, and was clearly getting more and more agitated. It wasn't just a physical fight anymore, but a mental one. Dawn knows he's not the strongest fighter, but you don't need to be in order to break someone's spirit. Dawn's opponent began to swing wildly at him, all rhythm he possessed earlier gone.

However, as Dawn took a hook from the right, an explosion went off. Both boys fell as everyone stood up in shock. The far back wall was now missing, and in the gaping entrance stood an immense figure, hunched on all fours.

Death and the smell of gasoline filled the area as the distant shape began to rise from its place. The air felt cold and tense against Dawn's skin, his hairs standing on end, eye's growing wide in disbelief. All the old stories of the old world he was told as a kid by Nana came flooding in. It's one of them! They're real! His eyes shot down to the ground. 'If they meet your eye, you already lost' His grandmother's warning rang clear.

The monsters were seen more as a myth than anything else, something to keep kids from staying out too late at night. Beings made from hateful gods and driven only to destroy, it all sounded ludicrous to most people, and yet here one was.

It was only a few feet away now, and Dawn could see it all. He couldn't move. He had become paralyzed from fear. His thoughts rushed to his sister. Was she ok? Could she get out from where she was? Was someone going to stop this thing? Eventually, curiosity got the better of him, and he looked up to confront the inevitable.  A real demon. The Chiefs of the damned. A Nyx.

The beast on all fours stood two feet higher than Dawn. As it entered the light fully, Dawn gasped in horror. The small leftover pieces of burnt skin hung from the full skeleton body. It was more animalistic than humanoid, with long knife like claws on its hands and feet. The tail whipped back and forth, the way a large cat's does right before it pounces. The dragon-like skull was tilted down, it looked as though there was slash marks on the eyes, and giving the impression the demon was blind, though Dawn knew better. 'Don't look them in the eye. They will try to trick you, and rarely actually fight.' Thought, he knew this beast was going to kill him.

He was going to die here, and it was clear to him.

It began to smell of smoke.
