LOST SHADOWS - A Broken Lie

Chapter 12

Elaina felt her body relax as the hot shower water hit her skin. God did she hate dealing with those things, always ends up being a mess. She would have stayed on site to help clean up, but after being covered in blood and seeing Dawn's face full of fear, she needed to get out of there. The day was just getting longer and longer, and god was she already so tired. The whole thing was a mess in her opinion.

She let out a deep groan, resting her head on the wall.
"I'd kill for some coffee right now."

Ah. You scared him... is that why you look so dead?

Damn. So much for a relaxing shower.
"Shut up. You're just as upset about it."

Am not! We did our job, find and destroy the rogue. Not our fault Star failed to get everyone out of the way. Now our cute little healer is traumatized! WHY WOULD I BE UPSET?!?

"Yeah... still wondering what exactly went wrong there..."

I think we should look into the boy and his sister. The say they're just support-class, but I'm not so sure...

"They haven't done anything to prove other wise, you're just being paranoid."

Still. We should call them or something...

Elaina turned off the water and stepped out of the shower to grab her towel. The air was freezing compared to the water. She shivered as her feet met the tile floor.

"And what do you wanna do? Chat?Make sure they're ok? Interview them? Or do you not really care as long as you see Dawn again?" She teased as she dried herself off.

Why I never!!! I don't— Is it that obvious?!?

"Let's just say that you're lucky no one else can hear you."

Yay. Sooo lucky.

Still! We do need answers, even if they don't know anything, they're witnesses.

CALL THEM.

Elaina let out another groan.
"Better make that coffee strong."

We're out of coffee remember?

"Fuck."

Language!!!

"Well, I need to go to the store anyway."

You're stalling.

"Yeah, yeah. Just let me finish getting dressed."

She was just pulling her t-shirt over her head when her phone began to ring.

Answer it! It could be them!!!

Elaina rolled her eyes as she reached for her phone and put it on speaker.
"Hello?" Her voice came out more tired than she would have liked.

"H-Hey! Is this Elaina? This is Dawn." His nervous voice cracked through the phone. Elaina felt a soft smile grace her face.

"Yeah Dawn, it's me! What's up?" She could feel herself shifting to a more comfortable position, enjoying the silence in her head.

"Oh. I was just... uh. I was wondering if you wanted to come hang out with me and Milly. You took off so fast that I didn't get to ask earlier."

Excitement filled Elaina instantly. It had been forever since she had some time to just hang out, let alone with new friends. She felt like a middle schooler all over again.

"Sure Dawn. I'd love to."
