It was a rainy morning. The moisture in the air gave the cafe a comfortable homely sent. Not many customers had come in today due to the weather, not that anyone would complain about the quiet.Sitting in the booth furthest from the door, Elaina lightly blew on her chai latte she had just bought a moment prior. She was very tired, but she had plans.
That party wasn't that bad!!! Not as bad as we thought it was going to be!! What's-his-face was pretty cute, if not a little creepy... but, hey!! Could have gone a lot worse!!!!!
"I just really wanted to rest though." Elaina mumble into her mug. Taking a sip of her drink, she felt the muscles in her face relax. She was really stressed as of late. Split had gone out of town for a week, and she was the only person who knew the full reason. She was proud of him, but in his absence she's gained some... complications. On top of picking up the workload, Chief apparently had put it in his head that they were going to start "being actual partners" and had started to join her on patrols. He also said she had to stay Professional around the rookies, so she couldn't really talk to Dawn or Milly as Nyxie. If that wasn't bad enough, the rookies were in their criminal justice segment of training, and it was not going well. Apparently, some of them have decided to protest going and insist that "this wasn't what they signed up for." Sure it was just learning how to do the paperwork, but it was important.
If we have to do all of that damn paperwork, then so do those ungrateful pricks! Hopefully Star lets us get to put them in their place!!
"Chief told us that he would handle it, and that we just need to focus on teaching the ones who show up." She sighed as she took another sip. Turning to the window, and done with the topic, she opted to watch the rain. It had been raining quite hard for a while now, and the streets looked significantly darker than normal. The rapid pitter-patter on the roof was oddly soothing. Her mind let her be to enjoy the atmosphere.
The cool grays and blues of outside complimented the warm yellow and orange of the cafe lights. Elaina's eyes closed as she snuggled her mug against her face. The warmth brought her a twinkle of joy, and a gentle smile crept on her face. She sat like that for a while till she heard the door chime open.
Opening her eyes, she looked around to see who had entered. Her gaze wandered to the doorway, and there they stood.
She felt a grin grow on her face, her heart speeding up, her mind locking on.
OMG! OMG! OMG!!! I can't believe they're actually here!!! We haven't been able to properly talk to them in so long!!! I can't believe they came!Pleeeaaassseeee!!!! Go say hi!!!
Standing up she let out a friendly yell. "HEY YOU ~"
The person at the door turned to them startled. They grind back once they realize who she was.
"Hey! Haven't seen you in a while!"
Elaina hugged Dawn tightly. He melted into it as he hugged her back.
"So, I was thinking this weather was perfect for a 'secret meeting', don't you?"
"You know... I think it is!"
They both paused a moment to meet each other's eyes, then they laughed.
There was a scent of smoke and gasoline.
