Milly's expression held a mixture of unimpressed and doubtful curiosity. Drama and gossip were a favored hobbies of hers. Dawn didn't mind getting dragged along from time to time. The two of them went to the cafe right after they finished their shift to get fuel before diving down that rabbit hole. They had been discussing about what they had witnessed between their higher-ups and the infamous young Protector. They both had theories about it, and Dawn had just finished stating his. He was quite confident in it, though Milly thought otherwise.

"Dawn. I don't think they're dating."

It was hard to ignore the sass in her voice. Dawn chose not to let it effect him as he straightened out himself, he was ready to dive into it.

"No. But don't you see? What if Nyxie and Chief used to date? Then something happened and there was a bad break up? And what if they still had to see each other every day for work, making things awkward? Then she starts seeing Split? Making Chief jealous? And that's why he was so aggressive?" Dawn gulped down he's coffee when he finished. He believed in what he said. He saw the way Chief's face scrunched when Nyxie said to leave Split out of it. He was certain he was right about his theory.

"Or... maybe she just felt that it didn't involve him and she was just trying to deal with a coworker that she doesn't get along with?" Milly's voice was relaxing, probably because she didn't not think what he said was TOO crazy.
"Besides, Split works alone, don't think he's dating Nyxie."

"Whatcha talking about?"

Startled, they both turned to see a young man who's voice Dawn could have sworn seemed familiar. His tan skin and light brown hair seemed to glow in the cafe light. The man's hazel eyes held gaze with them as he wore a smirk.

"Uhh. None of your business?" Dawn retorted flatly. The young man rolled his eyes.

"Come on~ don't be like that! You were saying something about The Protector Nyxie, right?" He sung out playfully.

Milly, quite surprised that he had any idea of who Nyxie was, spoke up. "Yeah... you know of her?"

A smile crept up and grew on his face. "Know of her? She saved my life more times than I can count!" His face was tinted pink, as he realized what he was saying. "Though I probably shouldn't tell you rookies that!" He giggled to himself.

"WAIT. SPLI—" She didn't get to finish, as Split's hand shot up to her mouth. "Shhhhhh!!! Not in public!" He yell whispered. "Name's Jey!" He stated more calmly ask he released her face.

"Why are you here? Shouldn't you be out doing Protector stuff?" Dawn asked him bluntly. God. I hope he didn't hear me say anything about him earlier. Jey turned to him with an expression that Dawn could only describe as guilt filled sorrow.

"Truth is I was looking for you two. Nyxie's been letting today's little incident eat her up. Poor thing has a bipolar guilt complex the size of Texas. One moment not even Star-Hero could convince her she's doing something wrong, the next she feels like the demons everyone compares her to." His gaze drifts as he speaks, almost as though he's seeing it transcribe in front of him. "She seems to really be hung up on you two though, more than normal..." A thoughtful look graced his eyes.

"Tell me. Do you know anyone by the name of Elaina?"

Dawn's heart stopped.
