Note: PERCABETH ACTION! :)
Alex POV
I really wished I had thought it through carefully. Tomorrow, I have to face Noel in sword and shield fighting. Could I do it with only a day's worth of practice? I decided to ask Percy and Annabeth for help. Well, hello? Who wouldn't? I heard that Percy was the best swordsman in years, and wherever Percy was, Annabeth was bound to be there.
I ran up to the arena, already seeing Percy in combat with Annabeth. The rest of the Athena cabin, which I hope they are the Athena cabin, were watching the fight between the "two-lovers". Annabeth used a celestial bronze dagger, well... most weapons are made of celestial bronze. However, Percy was using his sword, which was also called Riptide. By looking at the way they were fighting, they seemed so relax - that would definitely not happen to me tomorrow.
"Percy!" I called running up to him.
"Hey Alex," Percy greeted, clicking his sword back into a pen.
"Look, I just wanted to ask you a favour..." I stammered, wondering what Percy would say when I told him about my well, challenge with Noel tomorrow.
"You wanted to ask him to teach you sword fighting for your challenge with Noel?" Annabeth said.
"Yeah... How did you know that?" I asked, cleary surprised that other campers knew.
"Word spreads quickly by the Aphrodite cabin," Annabeth said simply.
I knew the Aphrodite campers were the best gossipers. Well, who wouldn't know?
"Sure, Alex. Can't let you be pulverised, right?" Percy chuckled.
"Just don't make this mistake with the Ares cabin. Especially Clarrise La Rue," Annabeth said softly.
I heard rumours about Clarrise defeating a drakon, and I didn't want to get a few meters within the Ares cabin's reach, especially being the 'new kid'.
"So let's get you started!" Percy said rushing into the armoury, with Annabeth at his heels.
Percy first picked out my combat armour. They were heavy, with a capital h. Next, we picked out my sword. Annabeth wanted me to use a dagger, since she uses one, but Percy said that Noel uses a spear, so it'd be better if I could use something that would defend me much better. I couldn't agree more, I didn't want to end up in the infirmary again. That would be nasty.
"I can't find a good sword to hold," I said picking up my twentieth sword.
The sword was either too heavy, or too light, and none of them really suited me.
"It's okay, I can ask my brother Tyson to help you, or Leo, one of the Hephaestus cabin's counsellor." Percy said encouragingly.
"Thanks, but wouldn't that take time? It's okay, I could use one average one at the moment," I said, trying not to overload Percy.
"You sure? Well... It just wouldn't feel so good, and that may affect you," Percy said before turning around, trying to find any children of Hephaestus.
"It's really okay, they could make it after I defeat Noel," I said gleaming, although I really didn't think I could defeat Noel.
"Okay, so I'm going to teach you the basic of sword fighting," Percy said grinning.
"Seaweed Brain, it's sword and shield fighting, he needs a shield!" Annabeth said before slapping Percy lightly.
"Oh yeah, hey Alex, you could borrow my shield," Percy said handing me his watch.
Apparently, it could turn into a shield, which was extremely cool. I spent the next few hours learning how to sidestep, defend myself, and more importantly, attacking my opponent. Percy said I was a natural, although I just think it's because he wants to cheer me up. By the time I finished learning the basics, Noel came in...
"So, Rider... Learning something from the 'expert' huh?" Noel said, making his fingers bend when he said 'expert', as though Percy wasn't one.
"Look there Noel Collins, Percy is an expert. Have you defeated all the monsters he defeated himself?" Annabeth said, backing Percy up.
"Save it Chase, you're just backing him up because you're his girlfriend. You know Percy could get any girl, you're just a pesky friend of Percy's. You probably forced him to date you." Noel said rolling his eyes.
"Get out of here, before I start a war with you!" Percy vociferated.
Water around us started to rise and turn, the ground started to shake. The peaceful Percy Jackson was gone. I was looking at someone who could destroy the world. At least I wasn't at the end of it... And I hoped I wouldn't be. No amount of spy trainings would really help me with this guy. Noel walked away, thankfully. I guess he didn't want a full fledged war with Percy Jackson.
Percy and Annabeth both cursed under their breath, obviously frustrated with Noel.
"Alex, I'm going to make sure you crush him," Percy said before teaching me more moves.
At the end of the day, I practically knew everything Percy knew. I just hoped I could crush Noel like how an exterminator could crush a bug... Right after dinner, I heard Percy talking to Annabeth, and they left for the canoe lake, the place where apparently, they shared their official kiss.
Percy POV
I was mad. How could Noel say that I didn't love Annabeth? Gee, my fatal flaw is loyalty for a reason... I decided to teach Alex most of my moves, to make sure he could win Noel tomorrow. If he couldn't, I would be there to take Noel down myself.
"Hey Percy?" Annabeth asked as she came over to my table.
I could see tears welled up in her eyes. I hated when Annabeth cried, it just... Well, wasn't Annabeth. And I loved Annabeth for who she was.
"Yeah?" I asked, still eating my blue food.
"Go to the canoe lake later, I need to talk to you," Annabeth said before turning around.
"Wait, we need to go for the campfire!" I reminded Annabeth.
"Chiron says it's okay if we don't go today," Annabeth said before returning to her seat.
"Meet you there later, Wise Girl," I said before stuffing myself with more blue food.
"Sure Seaweed Brain," Annabeth said as she tried to smile, although it really seemed like she frowned.
Uh-oh... Did she get angry with me? An angry child of Athena wasn't someone I'd like to avoid. Especially when Annabeth was angry with me.
After dinner, I headed to the canoe lake with Annabeth. At first, we sat there looking at the water. I could hear the Apollo cabin leading the sing-along. Although I really loved the campfire, being here with my girlfriend was something I loved more.
"So, you wanted to ask me something?" I asked, leaning closer to Annabeth.
Annabeth tensed up at this, and began to relax before taking in a deep breath.
"Yeah... Did Noel say the truth? That I frightened you into dating me?" I could here the shakiness in her voice - something Annabeth Chase didn't really have or showed, she also seemed near to breaking down.
"Of course not! He's talking utter nonsense!" I said trying to sooth Annabeth.
"Thank the gods' Seaweed Brain, I thought I forced us together," Annabeth said placing her head onto my chest.
"It's okay," I said before kissing her forehead.
"Why don't we take a swim?" Annabeth suggested, pulling me into the lake.
We spent most of our time in the water, of course not swimming. Why would you when you could make an air bubble?
