Anniversary

<Zoie's Point Of View>

We had just gotten back from our latest Expedition this afternoon. Melissa had told us we can relax the rest of the day. I wish she could but being a Captain she is always busy. Something happened during the last Expedition were she was gone for a long time off with Captain Levi's team and Hanji.

Today was the anniversary of when our team was put together. Two years ago from today, Melissa became a Captain and she formed this team. Because of her being the most awesome Captain in the world we decided to throw a little surprise party for her. I was helping Stan wrap the presents we got for the whole team while everyone else was out getting stuff.

"Do you think the Captain... Likes anyone? "Stan asked. I looked at him confused.

"You mean like if she likes Sara or Me?" I asked.

"If she has feelings for someone? " He said a little nervous.

"Why would I now that?" I asked again. I wasn't as confused as before.

"I figure you might know because you're her best friend." He said and I started thinking about it.

I thought about how close she was with Erwin but then I remembered she was related to him. She was also close to Levi but sometimes they fight like an old married couple. I think she has feelings for Levi in some way, either she hasn't realized it yet or there's something else.

"I think she might have feelings for- Wait why do you want to know if she has feelings for someone?" I asked then I realized why he would be asking.

"I - I was just curious... You know uh... Me being second in command I want to know if anything would possibly distract her." He said nervously as he looked away. I saw him blushing and that confirmed it.

"You have a crush on the Captain!" I said all excited.

"N - No I don't!" he denied as he looked back at me while he blushed more.

"With that type of reaction, it proves you do."

"Fine, maybe I do. But don't tell her or anyone else!" he said and I nodded. He started to calm down and started writing someone's name on a note.

"So are you going to tell her?" I asked.

"I tried the other day." He said in a sad tone. I looked at him with a concerned look.

"What happened? How did she respond?" I asked.

"Before I could say anything she was requested by the Commander for her to see him." He said. I thought for a minute and when I was about to say something the door swung open. We both turned around as everyone else was getting back.

"We got everything on the list," Charlie said.

"Great! Let's finish before Melissa shows up." I said.

We got everything done and it was about time for the Captain to show up. We waited as she was about ten minutes late. We had asked Squad Leader Mike to help us get the Captain here.

"MIKE!... DON'T MAKE ME HURT YOU!" We heard the Captain yell from down the hall. The door was kicked opened by Mike as he had Melissa over his shoulder. She was struggling to get away as she tried to kick him in the face but he would move his head away.

"Put me down, damn it!" She said. Not soon after she said that he quickly put her down. He looked in pain as he grabbed his right hand.

"Ow! You bit my hand!" He said shocked. His hand started bleeding a little as she had an evil smirk on her face.

"I warned you." She said.

"Um... Captain?" I asked and she turned around and looked at me confused. She looked around the room and at everyone else.

"What's going on here?"

"Happy Anniversary," I said and everyone smiled at her. I didn't notice but Mike had left.

"We threw this surprise party for you to celebrate the Team's Anniversary," Cole said.

"And to thank the best Captain in the world for forming this team," I said as I walked up to her with a smile on my face.

She smiled and looked at me. The next thing I knew she was hugging me. My body tensed up but then relaxed as I hugged her back.

"I love you guys!" She said.

"I have something to give you all," Stan said as we pulled away from each other. Stan handed out the presents to everyone and Melissa looked really happy. I haven't seen her this happy in a long time.

"You guys can open it now," Stan said and we all unwrapped our gift. There was a black box with my name on it. I opened it and saw a dog tag with the Wings of Freedom on it. I picked it up and I looked behind it and saw all of our names.

"I asked my father to make them. I want everyone to have something to remember all of us." Stan said.

<Present Day>

I was having a terrible nightmare. I could feel someone shaking me and calling my name but I couldn't wake up. I thought it was a part of my nightmare so a punched the person as I quickly woke up. I was sweating and short of breath. I noticed someone was laying on the floor next to my bed and Eren was standing in the doorway. He was shocked and scared as he looked at me then at the person on the floor with their hand on their face. I heard someone footsteps running down the hall and Stan and Charlie ran in past Eren.

"Captain, are you alright?" Stan asked.

"We heard someone screaming," Charlie said. They both looked worried and before I could say something the person on the floor sat up.

"What the hell is wrong with you Idiot?!" Levi yelled.

"I-I-I... I don't know?" I said softly as I looked down and grabbed the side of my head. Levi sighed and he got up and sat on the side of my bed next to me. I heard more footsteps and Hanji and Erwin ran in they both looked worried.

"What happened? Melissa are you alright?" Erwin said as he walked up to the side of the bed next to Levi. Levi looked over at Eren and he jumped.

"I was walking by and I heard Captain Melissa talking, and she sounded scared. So I tried to wake her up but I couldn't so I found Levi to-"

"When I touched your arm you screamed. I tried to wake you up but you punched me." Levi finished. I looked at him surprised. I have never reacted to a nightmare like that before or that I know of.

"I'm sorry that I made you guys worried," I said as I looked down.

"It's alright. As long as you're fine, it doesn't matter." Erwin said as he knelt down and put a hand on my shoulder. I looked up at him and Levi and I smiled.
