LANCE

I didn't know if Keith was behind me or not. All I knew was that my friends were in danger and I had to help them.

I have to get there!

Before I could burst out of the trees Keith yanked me back by my hoodie and tossed me to the ground.

"What the hell man? We need to help them!" I snapped.

"If you go in there guns a blazin you will be killed in a heart beat. Take a second to think this through. We don't know what kind of enemy is in there. It could be human or one of the undead. It could be numerous things." Keith stood over me.

I wanted to shove him and tell him off, but I calmed and understood what he was saying.

Pidge and Hunk could be held hostage. If that's the case then goin in there guns a blazin would be a very bad idea.

I hate it when he's right.

Taking a deep breath through my nose. I nodded. Keith relaxed his features and held a hand out to me to help me to my feet.

As I brushed the dirt from my ass I noticed Keith digging in his backpack.

"What are you looking for?" I asked.

"Smoke bomb. You never know. Once we determine the situation we can decide on the best course of action." Keith spoke nonchalant.

It's like he's a trained soldier or something.

He didn't even go to Garrison. I would have remembered seeing him and his dorky mullet, and yet something about him-

I guess that's what you get for having a Commander as a brother and guardian.

Keith checked our weapons, and tucked a smoke bomb on his belt beside his blade and together we snuck close to the train station.

We neared a window and peaked inside.

"Pidge, Hunk!" I gasped before Keith shoved his hand over my mouth.

"Quiet." He spoke harshly.

Inside Hunk and Pidge were sitting back to back in a corner. Their hands and feet bound. Hunk looked like he had been beaten with a bat while Pidge though angry looked frightened.

"It's definitely human. The undead couldn't tie anyone up. Right?" I spoke panicked.

Keith nodded in agreement.

Movement across the room caught my eye. There was a group of thugs huddled together ransacking Hunk and Pidge's packs.

"Where's Cosmo?" I asked scanning the room.

"He probably escaped." Keith spoke nonachalant. I glanced at him. His eyes held worry but his face was twisted in anger.

"What is it?" I asked.

"We have enough problems in this world with the undead running around without people hurting each other." He spoke tightly.

"Okay, what's the plan?" I asked.

PIDGE

Struggling against my restraints I grunted and yanked until I was tired.

There has to be a way out of this.

I hope Lance is okay, and Cosmo.

I glanced over my shoulder to see Hunk breathing heavily.

Those assholes. They had beat him up close to death for trying to protect me. Cosmo did his best to protect us, but they hit him with a bat.

Tears stung my eyes as I watched Cosmo take off. One of them followed him. They hadn't come back.
