LANCE

"I don't think this is a good idea. Maybe I should go with Griffin. I know how he can be." Keith had pulled me aside as the others started to prepare to leave.

His perfect brows knit together in concern.

"Relax, babe, I got this." I waved his worries away with my hand. He pursed his lips and folded his arms over his chest.

"Babe?" He raised a brow teasingly.

"Shut up, you like it." I blushed.

"S-so what if I do?" It was Keith's turn to blush.

I laughed and cupped his cheek brushing his hair back with my fingertips.

"It's only an hour." I spoke softly.

"Yeah, but you don't know Griffin like I do." Worry pinched his face and I smoothed his features with my thumb.

"I know you two have history which is why it's best if I go instead of you." I explained.

I wasn't going to admit that I would have been hella jealous if Keith wound up with Griffin.

"Okay fine, but I don't see why I have to get stuck with Kinkade." Keith pouted.

I chuckled at that and snuck a quick peck on his cheek before heading to the door. Keith's hand closed around my wrist stopping me.

"Lance, I-" Keith began before biting down on his lip. He rubbed his arm vulnerably.

"I know. Me too." I whispered reluctantly drawing away.

"I'm on the top floor. See you in an hour Mullet." I waved. I turned and stepped into the hall where Griffin was waiting in lie for me.

"You ready rookie?" He spoke snidely.

"Rookie?" I snorted.
"Puh-lease. They didn't call me the Tailor for nothin'." I swung my pistol around my finger. I ended up smacking myself in the chin and grunted as I rubbed the sore spot.

"Right." Griffin brushed past me and led the way to the stairwell.

"Just stay behind me and cover our backs. You can do that right?" He spoke gruffly.

I made a rude gesture at said back and followed him up the stairs.

"Have you explored the top floors?" I asked staring up the seemingly endless flights of stairs.

"No. We've only been as high up as the third." Griffin retorted.

"Do you think there are more of them upstairs?" I asked another question noting his growing agitation with a little bit of glee.

"You mean like the ones you and Keith found in the lobby bathroom?" He paused on a step to turn and glare at me.

Oh-ho-ho allllright buddy, it's on now!

"What's it to you?" I snapped.

"Just funny how you two found a biter in the lobby when we had walked through it only an hour before hand and it was perfectly clear." Griffin shrugged pressing on.

I growled under my breath.

So he's jealous. That means he still has feelings for Keith.

Does Keith still harbor feelings for him too?

I fell silent as we made our way to the fourth floor. We stopped, seeing the emergency doors had been blocked off and barricaded.

On the other side of the door was that distinct spine chilling, teeth tingling, unmistakable sound of nails clawing at wood.
