KEITH

"Do you have to go?" I asked Shiro as he loaded up my dads old truck.

"Yeah buddy, I'm sorry, but hey I'm graduating soon. I can come home whenever I want and spend time with you." He smiled.

"And you can teach me how to ride?" I asked excitedly tugging on his sleeve.

"I'll teach you all of my moves." He laughed hoisting me in the air.

"I love you Shiro. Come back safe!" I waved as he drove off.

I felt an arm slide along my shoulders.

"Daddy I wana be just like you and Shiro when I grow up." I smiled up at my dad.

He patted my head and laughed before scooping me up and placing me on his shoulder.

"I bet you will Keith. You're a great guy in my eyes. " He grinned.

"Keith? Keith?" Lance waved his hand in front of my face.

"Hmm?" I shook my head.

"What are we going to do?" Lance looked panicked.

"Let's get the others and get out of here. I didn't see how many there were, but there were three distinct voices I heard." I spoke in a whisper as we crept up the stairs weapons drawn.

A shadow moved in the darkness ahead of us. I felt Lance squeeze my shoulder in alarm.

"Stay here. If he comes out-" I didn't finish my sentence. He understood.

I crept down the hall toward Pidge's sleeping area.

Cosmo hasn't howled or anything. Maybe that shadow was just my imagination.

Just as I finished my thought a thump came from Pidge's room. A muffled yelp and Cosmo's deep barrel growl.

Pidge!

I rushed into the room to see Cosmo standing before a cornered Pidge. The hair on his back stood on end. His teeth were bared and dripping with blood.

Pidge looked disheveled and frightened, but unharmed.

A figure rose from the floor on the other side of the bed. A flash of light flickered in the moonlight.

A blade.

Without another thought I dove as he took a step forward. I knocked him back onto the bed with a grunt.

Alarmed he swiped at the air, cutting my cheek.

Cursing I punched him across the jaw.

"Keith?" Lance called stepping into the room.

I was holding the man down by his throat. My fingers curled around his neck, tightening like a snake.

Only a few pounds and I can crush his windpipe.

"Keith. C'mon Let's get out of here. Leave him." Hunk pleaded from the doorway.

"He's gonna come after us." I snarled over my shoulder. I was slightly aware he fell unconscious in my hands.

"Please. Let's leave." Pidge croaked.

I released him and kneed him in the side for good measure before leaving in a huff.
