The Lost Elves of Elfia

Chapter 1:Nightmares

Darkness. That is all I saw. Slowly, an image floated towards me. I was suddenly standing by my parents in front of the elf king Vancin. A shiver went down my spine as I remembered the day. A five year old me staring up at the King of Elfia. I stared into his cold, dark green eyes. All though his eyes were full of knowledge and strict cruelty, little me could see kindness behind it. Like a dull light behind a mask of darkness. Still, I tried my best to look small. My father bowed,

"My lord, I am Simain and this is my wife Anesha and my daughter Kyanna."

The King gave my parents the once over, but when he looked me in the eye a spark of curiosity shined though his. He nodded for my father to continue.

"My daughter," he started, "just developed her eye color today-"

"So she's three then?" the King interrupted.

"N-no my lord, she's five. We thought she was just a late bloomer, b-but today her eyes changed and uhm.... they flashed green and then turned a mix of red, orange, and yellow." He finished staring at me anxiously.

King Vancin nodded. Slowly, I stepped behind my mother.
"Come with me," the King sighed, "and leave the girl."

He rose from his throne and walked through a doorway, my parents followed. I sat on the floor and whimpered.

"Hey! Stand up kid!" A guard shouted.

I ignored him. Roughly, the guard yanked me to my feet.

"Ignore me again little girl, see what happens." he growled.

Hot tears filled my eyes. My arm throbbed. My other hand, which gripped his wrist, grew hot. He looked at his arm and grimaced, pain contorting his face. I followed his gaze. Blisters shot up around his wrist. The tears fell.
