The Lost Elves of Elfia

Chapter 3: A Whole Lot of Trouble

King Vancin. Being King he was dressed in the finest silk but, he wore it like a burden. He had strong arms and a firm jaw. His eyes were still just as cold and cruel as they were when I first met him. And I could still see the curiosity and humor behind his dark green eyes. I then gasped. His tired eyes seemed to flash blue. I stared intensely at him, now very sure of what I saw. Forgetting my original mission to sneak into the pegasi stables. They flashed blue again. I found myself creeping the darkness of the hallway into the well lit room.

I wanted to get a closer look but, that wouldn't be possible without getting caught. As I stepped back into the darkness, an idea dawned on me. I ran down the bland hallway and up a tower's stairs. When I got to the top, I burst through the doors and ran right into the guard Zula, tackling her to the ground. She flipped me over and sat on my chest, her hand on the holy of her sword. She looked at me and slid off my chest, sitting cross-legged next to me.

"What are you doing? I could have killed you!" She scolded.

"Sorry Zula.... I was exploring." I answered, shrugging.

"Go back to bed Kyanna." She chuckled.

I nodded and walked to the door. Zula stared the kingdom below. I opened the that lead into the tower. Instead going in, I closed the door and slipped behind the tower where Zula couldn't me. I tapped my foot, slowly  walking to the edge of the roof. A soft squeak sounded and I sat down and started to pull up the branch boards. Below was a dark room where workers would fix the ceiling of the throne room.

I lowered myself into the room and crawled to the side Vancin would sit. I tied a nearby rope around my foot and quietly pulled the branch into the room with me. Vancin was the only elf in the room. Now I had a closer look, I was 100 percent sure his eyes were turning blue. They flashed again. I leaned closer, squinting to see closer. I suddenly felt a hot pain go up my arm. With a yelp, I noticed I was hanging upside down, the rope keeping me from breaking my neck. Vancin shot out of his seat. I gave him a slight smile.

"Hey..." I mumbled.

Hey guys!! I noticed some people (a friend mostly) complaining about the short chapters. AND I KNOW!!!!! I want to keep the chapters shorter in the beginning if thats okay. The shorter the chapters the faster they go up. Once I reach 10 chapters I will make them longer so don't worry!! I have other books as well and will be continuing them when I get to 10 chapters on this one. So the updates will be either on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays. It justs depends on how fast I can write... Anywhooo I also wanted to end the chapter like that because a friend at school said she like how that happened.
