The Lost Elves of Elfia

Chapter 5: Healing

I woke up to the sun shining in my window. My room was decorated with flowers of every color. My bed was an ombre of teal to black. The glow flowers changed colors based on my mood. Today the flickered through red, orange, and yellow. The colors that represented anger, fear, and pain. There was a cast around my left leg.

'Crud.' I thought, 'If I were in marching band, I couldn't step off.'

I let a small giggle escape me. The entire room turned teal before turning to yellow. The colors were based on what I thought each mood would be. So, since teal was  my favorite color, it represented happiness. The memory flooded back to me. I realized that it must have been Zula who caught me. I jumped up an ran as fast as I could with the cast on, ignoring the growing pain. I bursted into the infirmary and looked around franticly.

"Woah there, princess!" The healer said.

"Hashie! Where's Zula?" I asked quickly.

He frowned. "She's over there," he said pointing, "but Kyanna... I don't think she's going to make it. She broke her ankle, which is fixable, but she also broke her spine and neck from the fall."

I stared at him. Tears built up in my eyes. Nodding, I walked over to her curtained off area. After Sutton on my knees, I took her hand and cried.

"Zula? Zula, I'm so sorry. I-I didn't mean-"

My voice hitched. I held her hand as if it would keep her alive. My tears continued to leave my tear ducts and Her breathing shallowed. Her skin was becoming colder to the touch every second. She was dieing and I couldn't do anything about it. She was dieing and I could never apologize for the trouble I caused. She was dieing and it was my fault.

'Thats right, it is my fault, I'm a murderer.' I thought.

I couldn't stay and watch the life slowly slip from her grasps. I kissed her forehead like she had always done when I was upset or sick and slowly left the infirmary.
