THE NEXT DAY

*TREY'S POV*

After getting my chances of asking Briana to the formal shut down, I kept myself occupied with the many assignments I had to catch up on. Briana texts me every now and then, but I don't text back as much as I used to. Now that I think about it, parts of the conversation we had yesterday replays in my head. How the fuck could she not tell me she had a boyfriend? On top of that, how could she not tell me it was Zeke? Better yet, how did I not know that Zeke had a girl? My fuckin frat brother. My phone rings, and I ignore the call. I really didn't feel like talking to anybody. The phone rings again, and once again, I ignore the call. I throw my headphones on, and continue my math homework. As I'm in my zone, I hear beating at my door and yelling behind it.

"TREMAINE BERNARD DAVIS, EITHER YOU OPEN THIS DOOR, OR I KICK IT DOWN AND BEAT YOU WITH IT!!! TAKE YOUR PICK!!!"

I drop my pen on my desk and open the door. Myra and Chris let themselves inside.

"Mmhmm, I thought so."

"I guess." I say as I roll my eyes and sit at my desk. "What y'all doing here?"

"We just came by to see you."

"Where's Myra number two and Kamaal?"

"Class.." They both said

Myra, Chris and I continue talking a little bit, but I eventually tune them out and continue my homework.

"Trey what's wrong?" Myra asks

"Huh?"

"You're kinda quiet over there. Are you ok?"

"Oh y-yeah. I'm straight. I'm just focused on my work."

"You sure? You look like you have something on your mind. Is something bothering you?" Myra asks

Damn these friends of mine. Always getting in my business. But I'm glad they asked me because I never had a chance to talk to anyone about the situation.

"Briana turned me down."

"Oh you finally asked her?" Chris asks

"Yeah....She already has a boyfriend."

"Are you serious?"

"Yeah, and on top of that, her boyfriend is Zeke."

"Wait, let me get this straight. Briana is dating your frat brother?" Chris asks

I look at Chris and shake my head at him.

"This is a lot to process right now. How did you figure this out?"

"I went to meet her in the student loungethe other day, and I was gonna ask her to go. When I got there, I saw her and Zeke all booed up and shit on the couch."

"Damn, I'm sorry Trey. I hate to be the on to say I told you so, but-"

"Myra!"

"Nah it's cool Chris. She did tell me to be on my toes, but I got caught up."

"So what are you gonna do about a date?" Myra asks

"I was thinking about going solo, but I kinda don't wanna go anymore."

"Why not?" Chris asks 

"I'm just not in the mood to go."

"So you're just gonna let some girl stop you from going and having a good time?"

"Basically."

"Uh uh. I'm not falling for that. You're going to that formal. I'll even be your date." Chris says
