College Dreaming
Chapter 34*Chris's POV*
I'm sitting at my desk catching up on some homework for my math class. I swear, out of all the classes I have, this is the only teacher that really piles the work on us. As I'm trying to figure out some of these equations, my phone rings and I notice my mom calling. I take a break and immediately answer the phone when I see her name on the caller ID.
"Hi mommy!"
"Hey baby, how's everything going up there?"
"Oh, everything is fine. I'm in my dorm catching up on some homework."
"That's good. I just decided to call you and check on you since you don't know how to pick up the phone and call your own mother."
Oh lord. She's about to put me through another guilt trip again. But then again, I can't blame her.
"I'm sorry mom."
"Mmmhmm, you're just too busy for me. Always partying and fucking Romeo." She says boldly
"Maaaaaa!!! Nobody is having sex over here. I'm too busy for that."
"You're lying Chris."
"No I'm not."
"Wanna know how I know you're lying? I guess while you and Romeo were doing the nasty, you butt dialed me. When I picked up the phone, all I heard was "ooohh, fuck me baby."
I dropped my mouth wide open. Her response really shocked me to the point where I had nothing to say.
"Mmmhmm nothing to say huh? Y'all better be using protection."
"Yes ma'am. But other than that, how are things back home?"
"Oh it's the same old shit. Ashley misses you. You should call her."
"I can imagine. I miss her too. Is she home?"
"No she's not, thank the lord. She's over at Romeo's house playing with his little brother." She says slightly irritated
"Why you gotta say it like that?"
"Chris without you here, that little girl has been working all of my nerves. Everyday it's "mommy lets play, mommy can we watch Spongebob." I just send her next door, or have her classmates come over when I need a break, like right now."
"Now you see what I go through right?"
"So how's everyone else?"
"Well I just saw Myra the other day to help her with a project, Kamaal and I are fine after some issues we had-"
"Issues? Is everything alright?"
"Yeah we're good now."
"Good. What about Trey?"
"You know what, we haven't seen much of Trey. He's like a solar eclipse. Whenever we see him, it's always interesting and brief."
"Really? What's going on with him?"
"I honestly can't tell you that cause I don't even know."
Mom and I continue talking and then she turns into the end of a Tyler Perry play with all these life lessons, meaning it's time for me to end this call.
"Alright mom, I gotta get back to work. I'll call you later."
"Alright honey. Get back to your school work. I'll talk to you soon."
"Bye mom."
"Take care Chris."
I hang up the phone and get back to my homework. A few minutes later, I hear Andre come in the room.
