The neighborhood was crowded with children, and candy was being given out left and right. An excites nine-year-old was weaving his way through the crowd, dragging his older brother behind him.

"Come on, Hanzo!" the child said cheerfully, his ninja costume a little too big on him. "We gotta go to all the good houses before they run out of candy!"

"Yeah, yeah..." Hanzo murmured, a small smile tugging at his lips. He looked around the neighborhood, trying to find a house that wasn't busy. "Genji, let's try these..."

He watched as his little brother ran up to the door of each house, rang the doorbell excitedly, and got his candy. It was rather adorable, to say the least, and he misses the day's where he could do the same without judgement.

It got darker the longer they were out, and when half of the neighborhood started to turn their lights off, Hanzo tried to call it a night. His brother, however, begged him not to.

"Just one more house, Anija? Please?" The little ninja gave him puppy eyes, and the ravenet found himself sighing. "Fine. One more, then we're heading home."

Genji cheered and ran off towards one of houses. His brother chuckled and followed slowly behind, keeping a close eye on him.

"Cool costume."

He spun around, surprised to see a boy his age behind him. The boy was dressed as a cowboy, and the costume really suited him. Hanzo couldn't help but look down at his demon costume in embarrassment. "Th... Thank you. Yours too."

"Aw, really?" The southerner reached up for his hat and tipped it towards the other. "Thank ya, doll, I'm flattered."

Without warning or reason, the Asian felt the heat rise to his cheeks. He was surprised at how flustered he got that he didn't even notice the kid was talking to him.

"I'm sorry, what was that?" he asked, hoping the Oni makeup hid his blush. His hope turned into desperation as the brunet laughed.

"What's yer name, pumpkin? Mine's Jesse."

He blinked, realizing he had forgotten his own name. It came back to him a moment later and he coughed it out. "Hanzo."

"Hanzo?" Jesse repeated, and the ravenet tried bit to think about how perfectly the cowboy said it. "Sounds foreign."

"It is," he answered, noticing Genji was running back over to them. "We're from Japan. We moved here a few months ago."

"We?" he asked, then noticed Genji running over. "Hey there," he chirped when the younger boy reached them.

Hanzo's brother cocked his head curiously. "Who's that? Is he your friend, Anija? Because you could use some friends."

The demon slapped a hand over his brother's mouth and laughed awkwardly. "Please ignore him. Kids say the craziest things."

"But he really needs friends!" Kenji shouted through Hanzo's fingers. The cowboy laughed quietly at this and locked eyes with an embarassed Oni. "Does he now..."

He crouched down in front of the ninja, and the Asian couldn't help but smile. "Between you and me," the brunet whispered, "I thought he was a girl."

Hanzo rolled his eyes as his sibling giggled. "I can still here you, Jesse..."

"Sorry, darlin'," he said, standing up. Lowering his voice, he murmured, "That's still not gonna stop me from flirtin' with you."

He winked, and the ravenet's face turned as red as a tomato. Without thinking, he asked, "When can I see you?"

Jesse smirked and pointed at the house Genji just left. "I live right there. Any time works, sugar."

He watched the cowboy walk off as his little brother asked a million questions. With a sigh, he grabbed his brother's hand and started walking towards their house, a smile on his face.

"At least tell me if you're friends!" Genji cried, and Hanzo could've sworn he heard the southerner laugh.

"Oh we're friends," he murmured, still in a daze. "We might even become more than that."

"Like... Best friends?" The ninja asked cluelessly.

Chuckling quietly, he answered. "Yes. Best friends..."
