"Keep up, you pathetic life forms!"
The slithering creatures dragged the humans along the mountain by chain. These creatures were nagas- they were at least twice or three times the size of a regular human, with long snake-like tails, bright green/yellow eyes, and large fangs. It was the yearly sacrifice, and they chose the humans that were desired.
The names—in which the humans heard briefly—were Kecar, Adgu, Viper, Sutras, and Icotza.

Kecar- the leader of the group. Is half king cobra, is about 15 ft tall with messy blonde hair, pale skin, and bright blue eyes, versus what his group has. His personality traits appear to consist of manipulative and ambitious. He has chosen the human by the name of Tao, who is inherently shy and anxious, but also very intelligent.

Adgu- the right hand person to the leader (gender is fluid). Is half boa constrictor, about 20 feet tall with shaved black hair, dark skin, and yellow eyes. Their personality traits may include being loyal and passive aggressive. They have chosen the human by the name of Liesl, who is considered pessimistic and charming(somehow).

Viper- the one with the simpler name is more or less the "cleaning boy" of the group. Is half horned viper, about 15 feet tall with short brown hair, tan skin, green eyes, and small horns on the forehead. His personality traits seem to be ignorant but somewhat caring. He has chosen the human by the name of Chiyo, who is quiet but determined.

Sutras- the official "knight" or "warrior" of the group. Is half rattlesnake, about 17 feet tall with longer purple hair, fair skin, and red eyes. She appears to be independent but irrational. She has chosen the human by the name of Dev, who is typically outspoken and mislead.

Icotza- the supposed "queen" to Kecar, but seems more loyal to Sutras. Is half anaconda, about 15 feet tall with short red hair, chocolate skin, and green eyes with a slight bit of red in them. She is very headstrong and delusional. She has chosen the human by the name of Apolline, who is considered to be musical but dramatic.

The humans walked in despair, the chains clinking as they walk. Tao(from China), Apolline(from France), Liesl(from Germany), Dev(from India), and Chiyo(from Japan) walk together slowly.

They could all remember the moment they were all chosen.

On a large land mass in the middle of nowhere, all countries bring in three millennials every year for the past ten years. They sometimes find the loneliest ones or the most capable of surviving. Each year, they've brought more than 500 victims. The nagas choose their favorites in order to be satisfied. After a year passes, they drop them into a large pit (assumably), and are left to die. They'll replace them with the next five people. Kecar chose Tao to take advantage of him. Adgu chose Liesl due to her sharp talk. Sutras chose Dev to manipulate for later. Icotza chose Apolline for entertainment. Viper chose Chiya for...

In truth, Chiya didn't know why the more quiet "Viper" chose her. She wasn't nearly as intelligent, athletic, or useful as the others. Even with the other two she was stuck with, Fumio and Hajime, she never stood a chance. Why? Why her?

They came close to a huge mountain/cave. Its large stature made Chiya shiver. Viper took notice.

The nagas kept their slaves close to them. Kecar took Tao with him to the throne room. Tao was solemnly accepting, although he walked with sorrow. Adgu and Liesl followed, Liesl trying to fight back.
Icotza and Sutras stayed in one of the rooms with Dev and Apolline. Dev stood emotionless while Apolline sobs quietly. Icotza gave her a dirty look while complaining about her human.

Viper went towards the back of the cave, waiting patiently with Chiya. She felt uncomfortable, but she moved as quick as she could so she wouldn't be at risk. She was definitely much smaller than him, but not as small as Liesl(5'4) was compared to Adgu.
Viper went far away from the rest, which she found surprising; she figured that he would be somewhat close to his tribe. They came along to the outside edge of the rock. Chiya glances in wonder as the sun set was bright and beautiful. Chiya watched the sun set as Viper began to unchain her. She stiffened, but she didn't move. She may not have been super smart, but she knew one thing:
If she moved to quickly, she'd either die or get captured again.
Viper sighed as he watched the sunset with her. "Don't worry," he said quietly. Chiya looked up at him. "I don't plan to hurt you. You and I are equals as long as it's just us, okay?"
Chiya blinked in confusion, but she nodded slowly.
What a weird captor, not treating her like dirt, but like...
  A person?
