Garmadon's Kid

Chapter 23

Lloyd smiled at the TV. He saw Jay walking towards Nya on the screen, but then noticing the news anchor and running off. Jay came back on screen with Kai moments later. "You two must be Kai and Jay." The anchor said as she shoved a mic into Kai's face "Tell me, what does Lloyd act like?"

"Like any other teen." Kai replied

"Why do you hang out with him?"

"Because unlike everyone else, he cares about us." Jay interrupted

"Is it true that he's the green ninja?"

"That's not a question for us to answer lady." Kai replied as he grabbed Jay and Nya, and dragged them towards Lloyd's room, the camera followed them, Lloyd could see that Cole was standing guard outside the room

Kai, Jay, and Nya walked into the room. "Oh, you saw that." Jay mumbled

"You guys have no idea how much it means to me that you didn't become my friends out of pity." Lloyd smiled, his grin was huge, he was reminded by what his friends had said, what had happened that day...

It was late May, and Lloyd was sitting alone at the lunch table, again. He looked at his food with his fork, dreading what would happen after school. A family reunion. The worst time for him. Most of his family ignored him, and everyone who went to the reunions were from his mother's side of the family. He pushed the peas around on his tray. As he did, he heard someone sit next to him. "Hi!" Said a cheery voice from next to him

Lloyd looked over at the voice, Nya Smith, "If you're gonna call me a freak, get it over with. Then go away." Lloyd mumbled to her

Nya frowned, but then regained her smile "Hi, I'm Nya. Wanna be friends?"

"I know this is just a stupid prank. I'm not dumb." Lloyd replied. Nya frowned, and ran off. "Called it." Lloyd muttered

"Hey." A new voice said from behind him

Lloyd looked at the new voice. There stood Kai and Nya Smith. "Hi?" He replied 'Why are these people talking to me? Did a teacher force them to?'

"I'm Kai, and this is Nya." Kai smiled "Want to be friends?"

"You do know who I am right?"

"Yep. Lloyd Garmadon. Son of Lord Garmadon." Nya smiled

"But just because you're Garmajerk's kid, doesn't mean you're him. You're your own person." Kai grinned

"If you let us be your friends, we won't leave you in the dust."

"We'll be your friends forever, because no one deserves to be alone."

Lloyd looked up at them "You promise?" He questioned

"Cross my heart." Nya smiled

"Hope to die." Kai grinned

"Stick a Lego in my eye." They said together

Lloyd smiled, happy tears in his eyes, he wasn't alone anymore.

Just a few hours later, Lloyd went running into his apartment, past his relatives, and up to his mom. "Mom! MOM!" He shouted

"Yes sweetie?" Misako replied "What is it?"

"I MADE FRIENDS!!!" Lloyd yelled, earning a gasp from quite a few of his relatives

"That's great honey!" Misako said happily "I told you people would see past who your father is, and get to know you."

Lloyd grinned at the memory. There hadn't been a family reunion in a long time. Not after the one when he was fourteen. Suddenly the door opened, and in walked the news anchor, with her camera man. "Hi! You're Lloyd Garmadon right?" She asked

"Yep."

"I have a few questions, would you mind answering them?"

"I guess not."

"First of all, how did you meet your friends?"

"School."

"Okaaay, what was it like growing up as Garmadon's Kid?"

"Horrible."

"What made it horrible?"

"The bullies."

"Can you name a few?"

"I can, but I won't."

"How many friends do you have?"

"Five, six including my Uncle."

"Have you ever actually talked to your dad?"

"Yeah, when he tried to kidnap me a few hours ago."

"At any point before that?"

"Not much before I turned sixteen. But most of the time it was because he butt dialed me."

"How do you feel about your father?"

Lloyd thought for a moment. "I think... That what he does is wrong, and that he needs to stop." Lloyd paused "But it's not his fault. When he was a kid he was bit by the Great Devourer, an ancient evil, who's venom can turn even the purest of hearts blacker then night."

"Do you know why your father has four arms?"

"According to my uncle, my father went into a realm of pure evil so he could hold the four weapons of Spinjitzu, and grew two new arms."

"Who is your uncle?"

"My Uncle Wu, My father's brother." Lloyd replied "Pretty much everyone on my mom's side hates me."

"Why?"

"Because of who my father is."

"When did you first find out who your father is?"

"When I was in about third grade. People started making fun of me. I had no clue why, before that everyone just ignored me, and denied the fact that I existed."

"One last question."

"Go ahead."

"Are you the Green Ninja?"

Lloyd stared blankly at the camera. He blinked a few times. Thinking. Should he tell them? Should he tell Ninjago who he is? How would people react? Thoughts ran through his mind for a few minutes. Until finally he looked straight at the camera, and said plainly "Yep."
