Monday, the day I dread the most. The first three lessons went by longer than usual. I hadn't seen AJ or Trisha all day (mainly because I was avoiding them). I don't think AJ even came to school. I told Becky about the wedding and Ryder and AJ on our way to the cafeteria. All she said in response was "That's cool." She wasn't even listening to me. All she did was smile while looking at her phone.
"I know that smile anywhere. What's his name?" Rose asked while joining us on our journey to the cafeteria.
"What? Who?" Becky tried to bit back her smile once her phone vibrated again in her hand. Both I and Rose looked at her in unison then looked at each other. I knew exactly what she was thinking.
In one swift movement I grabbed Becky's phone and bolted for the bathroom with Rose close behind. "Oooo Andrew." I said while looking at the contact's profile. The boy in the display picture had long brown hair and brown eyes.
"Lemme see!" Rose whined. I tossed the phone over to her and she was surprised by what she was looking at. "Alex you've have to see this." We both continued to scroll thorough the messages, giggling at what we read.
Startling us Becky came in and shouted, "give me that!"
We both laughed at her red face while I handed back her phone. "So Andrew huh?" I chuckled while nudging her with my elbow.
"Ugh, yes Andrew. Can we go eat now, I'm starving." She said then walked out the door. That was hardly an explanation for her elated attitude. I'm not letting her go that easily but I had to agree I did get very hungry.
Rose walked out next, right behind her. "Um I'll be out, just give me a minute." I turned to wash my hands and look at myself in the mirror redoing my hair into a high ponytail.
Still looking in the mirror, the entrance door opened. I would have thought it was Rose or some random girl but no, it was the person I could have survived the day without seeing. "Trisha."
"Alex," she had two other girls with her who I guess are her little minions. Pathetic, "It's been too long since I last saw you." Sarcasm was dripping with every word she said.
"I saw you on Saturday, the wedding?"
"Ahh yes, but I didn't see you." She paused, "Why is that you ask?" She took another pause longer then the last one, "Probably because you were busy trying to steal my boyfriend."
I stood there speechless. What could I have said? She had every right to point fingers at me but I wasn't the bad guy here. AJ was. Oh don't be so naïve Alex you played a part in this. Yeah, I did but...Nothing!
One of her minions commented on my hair making me feel insecure. The other commented on what I was wearing making me feel even more insecure.
I tried moving past the minions but got stopped by Tris standing in front of the entrance door. "I told you before, he is mine so stay away. Gosh I hate repeating myself."I didn't say anything as I left them. I could hear her laughing with the other two.
I needed to go, go anywhere but here. If I stay i know for sure that Trisha would make this day more miserable than it already was. But surly I couldn't leave without telling anyone. I went straight to the cafeteria to find Rose and Becky who were sitting at our usual table. I have no idea what I was gonna tell them, maybe that there was an emergency? Or a fire started at home? Or my mom needs me?
They would probably see through you. Its worth a try right? "Uh so guys," my voice came out cracking I laughed nervously, "My mom texted me that..."
They both laughed, "Are you really gonna stand there and lie to us." Becky stated while laughing in between. I shook my head and took a seat.
"Obviously something's up with the both of you," Rose pointed at us, "How about we go to my house after this for a 'study session.' " she suggested.
