Chapter fifteen: Something Fun

9.15pm

We had been walking for at least ten minutes. My feet were sore, I was tired and wanted to go to sleep. Bugging Ryder about where we were going was pointless. Instead we engaged in a conversation about ourselves. I actually learnt a lot about him that I never knew.

For instance, he is in a band with Parker. It's called Cool Kids Can't Die. Parker plays the drums, while he sings and plays the guitar. He said he learnt how to play when he was six. I thought that to be really cool. “You should play for me sometime."

“Haha, as long as I get something in return Louis." I could possibly sing for him, well maybe. The only over person who has heard me sing is AJ. “That would be great! You could sing for me when I play for you." Argh, I really need to stop thinking allowed.

“We're here, everyone keep quiet. Ryder, you and Alex wait here and stay alert, "  Parker gave me a half hearted smile before continuing, “we won't be to long." Him, Lucy and Kim went off into a building that was in front of us. Walmart I presume. We were probably at the back of the building. At that time it was closed with no one around.

We stood waiting for them in an awkward silence. “This isn't too fun Ryder."

“Well it will be as soon as they come out with the goods."

“What? Goods like-" the door that was used as an entrance flew open and people ran out. I felt someone grab my hand and pull me in the same direction. Sirens could be heard and lights from near by houses switched on. I ran as fast as I could with my hand still holding the other person's hand.

We ran back to where the car was parked. “Duck!" I heard Ryder shout and he pulled me down with him as he ducked. He turned to Kim, “you got the stuff?" She nodded then looked at my hand that was holding Ryder's.

After the sirens stopped we entered the car. Parker pulled out a six pack of beer cans with a pack of cigarettes. Kim took out a similar six pack as well. Parker sat in the driver's seat, Lucy sat in the passenger seat (she was more on top of her boyfriend than in the actually seat). Kim, me and Ryder sat at the back, in that order from the left door behind the passenger seat. “Hey man, turn the radio on or something." Parker responded to Ryder by doing as told after taking a sip from the can.

Hardcore rock music blasted through the speakers as people started drinking and smoke filled the air. I refused taking any beer since my last encounter with alcohol wasn't the best. There wasn't much to talk about in the car. Lucy and Parker seemed to be making a mess in the front half of the car by making out.

“I think...we...are going to..." Parker began speaking in between kissing his girl, “to leave...now." Lucy giggled and opened the door the both fell out drunk as ever. They must have had eight beers in total.

Ryder chuckled. “Get out of here man!" He shouted after them. He then moved from the back seat to the front. “Shall we go?" He asked while looking in the rear view mirror. I was about to reply but Kim beat me to it by kissing Ryder. It caught him off guard. She opened her eyes to glare at me and smirked against his lips. I felt a familiar hurting feeling in my chest. That's jealousy.

“Yes, we can." Kim said after kissing him for a really long time.

I tried to make a conversation just to get the disturbing image of him kissing her. “So Kim, where do you live?" She didn't reply but laughed. But not loud enough for Ryder to hear.

“I'm sure you would like to know."

“Actually I would."

“It doesn't matter. I'm stay with Ryder for the night. Isn't that right?" She spoke a little louder while connecting looks with Ryder in the mirror.

“Uhm, maybe not tonight," the car stopped in front of a small one storey house, “Good night Kim." If I didn't know better I would have laughed at her face right there and then. It was hilarious! It truly was! She hesitantly got out of the car and then went over to the driver's window.

“Bye babe." She gave him another kiss equally as long as the last then she skipped towards the house.

The car ride wasn't what I expected. It was quiet. Silent. Well, until Ryder pulled over. “Don't you want to move to the front? Its awfully lonely." I smiled at this and moved. We stayed there for a moment before he started talking again. “I hope you had fun? I sure did."

“Yes I did, thank you. I wouldn't mind doing it again."

“We will surely do it again. Pretty girl." I froze up at this. He hadn't called me that once that night. That's probably because his girlfriend was there. Kim. “I mean Louis." he must have obviously seen my reaction to this and quickly changed his choice of words.

I nervously laughed at his error, “You know you can call me Alex."

“That's no fun, Louis." I laughed at him. “You said that exact same thing to me the first time."

“I know, I'll say it again if you don't get it this time." I laughed.

He laughed at me, “You're so cute Alex." I stopped. He did it again. The complimenting. At least he called you Alex. Yeah. i guess that's good. Your cute too! That's what you should say. “You know, Kim is not my girlfriend."

“I thought she-"

“You thought wrong. She is more like," he paused to find the correct words, “a friend with benefits." Well I guess there was hope for me and him. I got a surprised by the kiss he then gave me. Well not exactly a kiss. I was turning my head and he seemed to be leaning towards me. Somehow our lips grazed each other. My cheeks turned their familiar rosey colour.

“Uhm. That wasn't supposed to happen."

“Or maybe it was." He leaned in again and this time we kissed. Like for real. It wasn't the same as when I kissed AJ. This was more passionate in a way and I think his lips are lot softer than AJ's.

We broke apart gasping for air as he started the car again. We still sat in his car after arriving at his house. He stared at me. I only did the natural thing and stared back. Both our heads leaned forward at the same time and before I knew it we were kissing again. “Ryder, we gotta go before anyone find us."

“Just one last kiss?" I laughed and gave him a quick peck on the lips.

“Ahh, that wasn't nearly enough Louis."

I laughed again, “We seriously have to go."

He pushed out his bottom lip into a pout and crossed his arms over his chest, “Hmph! Alright fine."

As quietly as we could, we got out of the car then went in the front door. We walked up the stairs (both flights). But I stumbled on the last step and fell backwards into Ryder's arms. He simply picked me up, bridal style, then took me to the front of Rose's door. “Thank you Ryder." I was basically whispering.

“I'm sure you can think of far better ways to say thank you." I giggle at him then gave him a short hug.

“That will have to do for now."

“Boo I expect the rest of it later. Good night Pretty Girl Louis."

“Good night, Roo."
