I wake up surprisingily refreshed. The events of last night still fresh in my mind but for some reason, I feel extra good this morning.

Walking out of my room, I hear hushed whispers and the faint sound of giggling. It can't possibly be Vee or Donté, I don't recall seeing or hearing them come in last night. I don't even remember them saying that they were going out; whatever that sound is, I'm positive it's them.

I walk over to the bathroom to brush my teeth. My unruly hair is more tangled than usual and is going to take forever to free it. I wasn't lying to Kale when I said I've got practice this morning, so a quick bun on top my head will do. There is no point in showering if I'm just going to get all sweaty again and have to use more water to get clean.

I walk back to my room, still hearing the hushed voices. I swear those two are sometimes like kids. Going through my closet, I fish out a pair of three quater dark blue tights, a matching sports bra and a grey sleeveless top that says 'ATHLETICS TEAM' on the back in black. It's an old top but still serves its purpose. The noises get louder and I sit to put on my Nike running shoes. They get so loud to the point where I can actually make out a few muffled words that are being said.

"Baby..." A giggle, more like a snort, erupts immediately after that, which I can only presume is Vee. She is the only other female in this house who would giggle/snort.

I walk back out of my room, grabbing a light jacket and my bag. Yeah, it is summer, but it's six am right now and frankly, it's a bit chilly outside. Just being the cautious girl I am, I double check my bag; making sure I have everything.

"Retha?" My head snaps up at the vioce. Excitement bubbles in me. My thin arms are thrown around her neck in a soul crushing hug. I haven't seen her in about 3 months and to me, that's a really long time.

"What are you doing here?" I can't fight the smile that makes its way onto my face as I ask her.

"Okay, shit, get off me." I laugh at her. Roy was never one for physical affection. I'm actually lucky she let me hug her and she actually hugged me.

I do believe that Roy should be at home right now, getting ready for school...

"What are you doing here?" I suddenly glare at her. A sheepish smile appears on her face. She was probably the on making those sounds. What the hell, and it sound like there were two of them but i only see one. This makes me glare harder at her.

"Well it's a funny story, you know." I give her a pointed look.

"Give me the short version, I'm late for practice."

"Me and Will was doing what we always do. We never get into trouble but this time we hit the wrong house, the nigga inside threatened to call the cops. It's not like we was going to go to jail for breaking his window and looking around, we didn't take his shit, we was just looking. He been chasing us," her friend, Will, emerges from the small kitchen, waving slightly, "we caught a train here and picked the lock to get in this morning."

I am speechless.

I knew my sister was a troublemaker but not to this extent. The fact that she is even doing all this shit with a boy, who by the way, looks way too hold to be in grade nine. He has that typical bad boy look with the fuckboy hairstyle and cuffed dark blue jeans. Roy better get a hold of herself before her little antics get her into real trouble.

"How stupid could you be; smashing a window and looking around is classified as breaking and entering, a criminal offence! People go to jail for that kind of shit!" I stop myself. Taking a deep breath, I compose myself, "we'll talk more of this when I get back. Pray to God Donté doesn't find out about this. You know what will happen if he does." I leave and begin the walk to the track.
