I dragged my feet as I walked down the sidewalk. I hadn't eaten anything all day and my stomach was starting to growl a bit. It's not like I cared though. I kicked a rock with my shoe and looked up to see where I was. Somehow I had ended up at the end of the road that went for another three miles past the house. In front of me laid the emptiness of the desert. My body started to go numb, no feeling, no emotion. I don't need it anymore. That house was the one place I had to call a home even though it was far from one.

"Y/n?" A deep voice rumbled from behind me. My heart skipped a beat in fear but my body elicited no response. I turned to see Optimus in truck form next to me.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"Why are you out here? Should you not be at home with your parental units?" He asked and I stared at him blankly.

"I'm just out taking a walk. It's, um, the last time I'll see this part of town probably. We're, uh, moving across town really soon." I said quickly, feeling a little guilty about lying like that.

"Alright, I was just making sure you were ok. I need to go back to base now, I will pick you up tomorrow for school." He said and drove away, leaving me there in my own thoughts. I sighed and decided to walk into town to find a place to sleep.

When I got into town I stopped and thought about where to go. I could go to the park and sleep on a bench or I could sleep in an alley. Since it was pretty warm tonight I decided on the bench in the park. I stepped onto the soft grass and slumped on the nearest bench. My head was killing me and so was my hand. I held my hand in front of my face and studied the blistering skin on my palm. I didn't have any bandages to wrap it with so I just slid my sleeve over my hand carefully and left it. I laid my head down on the bench carefully and stopped when I felt the back of my neck become warm and wet. My good hand went back and swept where the feeling had come from, only to come back with blood all over it. I sighed and rested my forehead against the back of the bench.

"Y/n?" A voice asked and I nearly jumped out of my skin. "Geez, sorry I didn't mean to scare you."

I turned around to see Raf standing behind me. He glanced down at my hand and gasped. "What happened?!" He asked, gently grabbing my hand.

"It's nothing I'm fine," I said and bowed my head a little.

"No- Y/n your head is bleeding!" He exclaimed and moved my head gently.

"I know," I mumbled and he looked at me like I was crazy.

"Here come with me." He said and offered a hand to me. I hesitated before slowly getting up.

"I would take your hand but I'm pretty sure you don't want blood all over it," I said shyly.

"What about your other hand?" He asked curiously.

"Uhm, I-I burnt it," I said in shame.

"What happened?" He asked and I hung my head.

"I-I'd rather not talk about it," I told him and he scrunched his eyebrows for a moment.

"Alright, come on." He said and grabbed my forearm instead as I looped my bag around the other. Raf led me to a house nearby and opened the door quickly. He dragged me inside and into a bathroom.

"Rafael, is that you dear?" A woman's voice rang out.

"Yeah Mom, I'm just helping a friend." He said into the hallway before turning back to me. He opened a medicine cabinet and grabbed bandages with a bottle of hydrogen peroxide.

"You don't have to do this Raf," I told him.

"I think I do. You're a friend Y/n, you don't leave friends to bleed out in the middle of a park." He said with a small smile.
