"Miko stop asking her so many questions," Jack said sternly.
"It's alright, I don't mind." I dismissed and he gave me an appreciative smile. "To be honest Miko, I don't know much more than you do."
"What? Why wouldn't you know?" Raf asked from the other side of my bed. The four of us were all sitting down on the metal gurney while I was sitting in my blanket nest. I've found that it's way more comfortable for me than the gurney. Jack, Miko, and Raf were sitting in a circle around me.
"Ratchet won't tell me anything until I'm healed up. He said he would after he pulls my stitches." I explained.
"Alright then tell us why doc bot adopted you," Miko said.
"It was that or get sent to another foster or orphanage. I was as shocked as you are but I'm really thankful he did." I told them.
"Raf told us what happened, is it true?" Jack asked.
"About Denice and Brad? Yeah." I said and he shook his head in disbelief.
"That's just disgusting." He said with an edge to his voice.
"Ah, it's alright. I'm over it." I said jokingly and they all gave me smiles.
"Y/n I need to refill your IV bags. It's up to you if you want them to stay while I do so." Ratchet said as he came into the medbay.
"They can stay if they want to," I said and he hummed in acknowledgment, turning to his workstation.
"What's in the bags?" Raf asked.
"One is water while the other is a mix of protein and vitamins." Ratchet answered.
"Wouldn't she get all those from eating?" Raf asked.
"Normally, yes, but she can't eat on her own just yet. Her body is still rejecting anything it has to break down in the stomach and liver." Ratchet said as his holoform appeared next to us and hung the bags.
"How come?" Miko chimed.
"That question has yet to be answered. But it is most likely that the area is still inflamed and sensitive." Ratchet said and I deadpanned. That's nasty.
"Gross," Jack commented and I huffed out a small chuckle. Raf looked down at his watch and a frown formed on his face.
"I've got to go, curfew." He said and the others said they had to go too.
"See you later guys," I said with a small wave. They all waved back and left the gurney via the large number of stairs leading to it.
"Are you feeling better?" Ratchet asked from next to me.
"Yeah, I'm feeling ok," I said and cuddled into my pile of blankets.
"I'm going to take another blood sample really quick. I still can't find out why your body is rejecting everything I give you. Nothing is inflamed." He said and I looked at him weirdly.
"Then why'd you tell them that?" I asked.
"Because they would keep asking questions I don't have the answers to." He stated while drawing my blood.
"Don't know why that doesn't surprise me," I said jokingly.
"Ha ha, laugh it up. They can be quite irritating sometimes contrary to your beliefs." He said mockingly.
"Oh, I'm sure they can be, just like every other teenager on planet Earth," I told him.
"Don't, just stop. You're giving me a headache just thinking about more than one Miko." Ratchet said and dragged an artificial hand down his artificial face.
