“Nice place you have here, how come you never told us about it?” Maria asked sitting at an old dusty bar.

“This is my thinking place, I found it one time when my pencil rolled under the bookcase. I moved the bookcase and noticed the wall was different from the rest, I knocked on it and it sounded hollow until i hit it hard enough that it swung inward and I saw the flight of stairs leading down here. I followed the stairs and found this secret laboratory full of swords and weapons used during the time of the Renaissance.

There are so many locked doors down here, that’s why I’ve been looking for
really old keys and collecting them, I found one down here a couple days ago but I’ve been to scared to check the locks because I can hear things on the other side. I hear voices, scratching noises, heavy breathing, quiet screams, and so much more. It scares me, but it also helps me think and clear my head.”

Madison paused closing her eyes and listening, “ there’s a bunker, food in the kitchen area and the things we need for homework. I think we should stay down here until we know for sure that the shadow man is nowhere to be found, he really is beginning to be a huge nuisance.” As everyone gathered around the table, that looked to have been used for research meetings, with old papers all over it, Gavin and Charley started to put the papers into one stack in the middle of the table. Madison and Maria went to the supply closet and got out some cardboard, notebooks, a science book and a math book to start on their homework.

“Who wants to start on the math homework?” Madison asked holding up a math book.

“I think Gavin should start it cause he’s like a math genius,” Maria said nudging Gavin.

“Science?” Madison asked.

“Charley likes science?” Maria suggested.

“Alright, Charley, you up for it?” Madison said with a small smile.

“Yea I can start the science,” Charley said grabbing the science book.

“You and Maria can work on the labyrinth for shop,” Charley suggested.

“Remember it needs to be big enough for Rumple, the class hamster,” Gavin added.

“We can switch it up in about 15 minutes or so,” Maria said setting a timer, “then we can all start on the english assignment.”

They all started working on their assignments. About 10 minutes passed when they started to hear scratching and screaming.

“What is that?” Gavin said as he got up. They all went to investigate some of the locked rooms.

“You said you found a key down here?” Charley asked Madison.

“Yeah I did, why?” Madison asked back.

“Maybe it can unlock all of the doors,” Charley suggested in a low voice.

“Kind of like a skeleton key,” Gavin said.

“Yeah, where is it Maddy?” Maria asked.

“It’s hanging over here on the wall,” Madison said grabbing it off of a hook on the wall.
