Chapter 14

"She did what to you?!" Dinah gasped, her innocent brown orbs flaming with anger at the sight of her croaking best friend sitting in front of her bathroom mirror, a beauty blender in one hand and a bottle of foundation in the other.

"She choked me why simotanuiously giving me a shovel talk, it was all very intimadating" Camila told her, smearing the tan liquid on her bruise imprinted neck before tapping it repeatively with the pink blender.

"Why are you not more alarmed by this, Mila? She choked you! Look at your beautiful neck, ohmygod, it's mangled! I'm going to murder that beautiful bitch" Dinah growled her worried hands flailing up to smooth over the makeup covered bruises that had yet to heal, they were the shape of slender fingers and were so dark that even after the third layer of foundation, you could still see them if you looked close enough.

"It's fine, Dinah. It's not like I haven't been through it before, and besides, if that's what it takes to get Lauren then it's worth it" Camila hummed nonchalantly, shrugging slightly before setting the beauty blender down and sighing heavily as she stared into her reflection.

"You're that crazy for this girl?" Dinah asked, her voice almost worried but holding a hint of pride as her eyes trailed her best friend's strong figure from a few steps behind her.

It was strange for Dinah, everything regarding the past month has been absouletly bizzare and she truly didn't know how to handle it. With the bite and the powers and Normani and Lauren's father, it was all so confusing and Dinah didn't know what to make of any of it. But one thing that was perfectly clear to the poor mortal girl was that she could see her best friend was changing right before her eyes; she didn't know if it was bad or good, for better or for worse, she didn't even know exactly what was changing- but she was growing stronger, she was becoming less of the scared girl Dinah had always protected and more so the Alpha's long lost daughter that she was. And it secretly worried the younger girl.

"I am, Dinah, you know I am. Besides, I shouldn't let such silly things affect me anymore. I have to be stronger than that now" Camila said, her voice holding confidence as she placed her palms on the tiled counter before pushing herself up and off her seat, turning to Dinah with a bright smile.

Dinah didn't give a response to the brunettes words, she could see something laying beneath the meaning, something more. But she brushed off her anxious worries with a shake of her head, letting out a hollowed sigh before uncrossing her arms and standing up straight, "Sit back down Chancho, haven't I taught you anything? You have to blend your neck foundation with your face, or you'll look like a unevenly baked waffle"

Dinah's voice scolded the older girl as she walked over and forced her sighing friend back down onto the stool sat in front of her varsity, placing her large hands on Camila's face to dap a few bloches of foundation before grabbing a hold of both her defined cheeks and focusing on her make-up why Camila talked of the article she had read the previous day.

When the pair got to school a few minutes early, in tow with eachother as they talked of Camila's plan to ask out the pale skinned girl now that she had heard of Jake and Lauren's breakup and Normani (kind of) gave her her blessing. She saw no reason to wait considering that she had been waiting patiently since the first grade, so with a little courage from Dinah and a bucket full of self confidence, Camila decided that today was the day she would ask Lauren out.

She hadn't exactly planned out what they'd do yet but Dinah promised to come over after school to help her plan every last detail, hoping to make Camila's first date the most unforgettable one of her life since the girl had been waiting for such a torturase amount of time. I mean, for God's sake Lauren had been Camila's first kiss and they were nearly seventeen years of age. So Dinah felt a little bad and wanted everything to go perfect for her favorite ship.
