♥ Chapter Nine ♥

Abby laid there as Jordan drifted off to sleep feeling his arms around her clinging to her

She felt more content then she had ever in her life and the thought terrified her

Once she made sure Jordan was asleep Abby began to frantically gather her things as Jordan rolled over and cuddled into the pillows she'd just vacated

The low sigh he emitted almost broke Abby as she turned back one more time to stare at the man she was falling for but knew it would never work between them

You couldn't build a relationship with someone who was as damaged as she was and it was better Jordan figured that out sooner rather then later

Abby I need your help please don't tell Jon

Luke whats wrong

Abby I gotta get out of here

Luke Where are you

Abby Jordan's can you pick me up and take me to my place

Luke Be there in a few then we're gonna talk

Abby Thanks Luke

Twenty minutes later Luke found Abby sitting on the hood of Jordan's car ,sobbing

Rushing out of the car he listened as she immediately recalled how their night began and ended leaving nothing out

"He didn't hurt you Gail I'm not sure what the issue is here all he said was .."Luke silenced the rest as he realized what Abby said

"Wait he loves you and you're running ?"

"Luke please just drop it "

The drive to Abby's apartment was filled with silence and her sobs

Luke said nothing as she waved him off once inside

It didn't take long for her to pack ,get in her car and hit the highway toward Rhode Island

The family cabin was there that she spent many summers as a kid . Calling her grandmother along the way who graciously allowed her to use the cabin for as long as she needed .

Jordan rolled over searching for Abby but all he could feel were pillows. Jordan sat up quickly and looked around. It was still dark out so he picked up his phone to check the time. 5:17 in the morning. "Abby baby are you in the bathroom? Come back to bed soon I'm cold and want to snuggle." He called into the empty home. After a few minutes passed without a sound he got up to look for her as worry began to set in. "Abby?" He called as he went through each empty room. As he sat down on the couch he looked over and saw her lavender purple tank top on the arm. "She left in a hurry. Oh God I scared her off by telling her I love her! Why did she run? I thought things were going great and we were on the same page" he thought to himself as he realized he was crying. His heart was breaking and he had no idea where the love of his life ran off to.

Abby's phone buzzed waking her from a fitful sleep

Luke Where in the fuck are you

Abby Rhode Island why

Luke Jon said Jordan called him asking what the fuck am I supposed to say Gail

Abby he can't know where I am please don't tell him

Luke you can't hide forever you know 

Jordan continued his frantic texting to Jon. 

I don't understand what happened. She just left. What did I do for her to leave? 

He hit the send button and wiped his tears angrily. He felt so broken but angry at the same time. He started a new text to Jon.

She could have left a note or something. Did she call or text you or Luke for a ride? I didn't hear a cab honk last night so I know she didn't call one. Oh God Jon I feel so lost and hurt. I'm so confused and I just want to disappear

Jon immediately called his brother

"Luke's talking to her now what exactly happened hang on I'm coming over we will figure this out "

"I don't know" Jordan sobbed into the phone before he hung up and flung his phone across the room.

Jon explained to Luke that he needed to check on his brother

The drive was short and within minutes Jon pulled into the spot next to Jordan's car

Not bothering to knock Jon let himself into his brother's apartment

"J I'm here " he called from the living room 

Jordan didn't answer. He had himself locked in the bathroom. He was lost in his thoughts and didn't hear his brother calling for him

Jon noticed clothing strewn about the sofa and living room floor absently picking it up to help his brother out Jon noticed a light blue tank top which he began to neatly fold when Jordan emerged from the bathroom

"J talk to me what happened ?"

"DON'T TOUCH THAT!" Jordan shouted as he snatched the shirt out of Jon's hand and promptly took it to his bedroom. He put the shirt in the top drawer of his dresser and melted to the floor in tears

Jon quietly followed his brother into his room as he silently knelt beside Jordan "What happened and you're bleeding little brother c'mon let's get that cleaned up "

"I'm fine and I don't know what happened. She just left with no explanation or anything. We had a great time last night and then I told her I love her and I thought she felt the same way. I'm such a fuck up!" He said between sobs. He slowly stood up and let Jon lead him to the bathroom where the shattered mirror was scattered all over the vanity and floor.

"You're not a fuck up Gail is just scared of relationships J .She need gentle handling .Her house wasn't like ours .Our parents have no detachment to emotions hers do and so does she . She probably just didn't know what to do ya know you said the words and it scared her . Do you really love her ?"

"I love her with everything in me Jon and I feel so damn lost. What do I do to help her? I want to show her it's okay to love and be loved but she ran. She ran" Jordan bawled. His heart was breaking and he didn't know how to stop it.
