♥ Chapter Sixteen ♥

Jordan pulled into the driveway of Bettie's cabin and parked

Bettie met them at the door

"What brings you two all the way out here ?"Bettie asked as she hugged them

"We wanted to see you and show you something "Abby explained as they sat down at the kitchen table

Abby pulled the ultrasound photos and the disc out "I need your laptop to show you the disc "

Bettie pulled her laptop from her bag by the table and booted it up

Once the disc was in the sounds of the baby's heart beat filled the room as Bettie looked through the ultrasound photos

She smiled at them with tears in her eyes before she spoke "I see there is a ring on her finger does this mean you're getting married ?"

"Yes ma'am" Jordan answered smiling from ear to ear

The three sat chatting and reminiscing for hours until Bettie realized it was close to dinner time

"Gram we better get going we didn't realize how late it got to be "

They hugged once more before Jordan led her out to the car

The drive home was filled with discussion of their own memories of times at the lake

They realized that they had spent a lot of time together as children and teens

Realizing they must have blocked it out over the years Abby squeezed Jordan's hand

"I'm so glad we found one another again "

"So am I Abs "

They stopped by the diner on the outskirts of the lake to grab a bite to eat before heading home.

"I'm starving "Abby said as they sat down in a booth

"Well then I will make sure to feed you "Jordan chuckled as Abby's stomach rumbled loudly

"I blame the baby " she joked

"Well then let's make sure the baby eats "Jordan winked

The waitress came to take their drink orders and handed them menus

"Do you remember the last time we were here ?"Jordan asked as he took her hand

"No ..wait yes I do you kissed me in front of Callie I never understood why "

"I wanted to break it off with her I'd found out she was cheating on me and I wanted her to feel the pain I felt .So I kissed you "

"But you were still with her I remember it being a couple of weeks until Gram told me you and she broke up"

"No that night ended it for us .She hung around me trying to get me back but I told her I wasn't interested .You never came back here after that so I just let things go and tried to move on.When you showed up at the bowling alley I was stunned I hadn't seen you in several years "

"So you knew it was me and acted like you didn't know who I was ?"

"No I knew but since you acted like you didn't know who I was I went along with it just to keep things quiet I figured Jon knew we had a history and would leave it alone "

Abby looked stunned so much was making sense

She couldn't believe that they had spent so much time together and she'd blocked it out

Was it because she fell in love with him then?

Was he the reason all of her other escapades fell apart

Was she secretly comparing other guys to Jordan without even realizing it ?

"Earth to Abs" Jordan interrupted her thoughts

"Huh? What ? Oh I'm sorry did you say something ?"

"Do you know what you want the waitress will be back soon .Where'd you go just now ?"

"The chicken alfredo and I was thinking about our times at the lake when we were younger.It amazes me that I don't remember so many of the times we spent together "

Jordan set his menu down and took her hand

"That last summer was painful for both of us I think we both blocked it out so that the memories weren't so painful"

They gave the waitress their order as Jordan held her hand

"Callie devastated me sleeping with David and you pulled back on our friendship .You were all I could think about for years you're all I've been able to think about .When we seen each other at the bowling alley I felt like we were getting a second chance .Even when we decided on friends with benefits I was all for it because I felt like we were getting another chance and we are only this time no one's going to tear us apart "6

"We could have been together this whole time?"Abby asked emotionally

Jordan nodded wiping a tear from her cheek "I know but now we can be together fate brought us together again and I'm so glad baby "

The waitress returned with the meals asking them if they needed anything else .

They declined

Jordan picked up his fork and began to feed Abby a bite of his chicken

"We have the same thing why are you feeding me ?"Abby chuckled as she swallowed the bite

"Don't you remember we always shared when we came here "

Abby had forgotten that.

Picking up her fork she fed a bite to Jordan

They spent the next half hour feeding one another and laughing as they talked about the many times they'd spent at this very diner doing just that

When their meal was done Jordan paid the check and they were on the road again

The drive seemed to fly by and soon they were back in Boston

Jordan pulled into the driveway next to his truck and put the car in park.

"We're home baby "he whispered to a sleeping Abby

Abby stretched and smiled

Jordan opened the passenger side door and held it open for her before ushering her into their apartment

As soon as they were inside Abby pulled him into her arms "I'm sorry I tried to push you away "

"No more apologies baby let's just keep moving forward "
