I glanced at the time, letting my fingers glide across the keyboard. I kept glancing at the time instead of the screen. My eyes were drooping and my hands were beginning to cramp, but these papers were needing to be finished by the end of the day today.

"Alexander," John Adams called from his office.  "You have more papers in the lobby, waiting for you."  John Adams grabbed his coat from inside of his office, throwing it on.  "When you leave, lock the door behind you."

I watched John Adams leave, his eyes never looking at me as he walked out.  I heard the elevator noise and watched as he left, my drowsiness slowly taking over.

Stretching slightly, I stood up, ready to go get the papers downstairs and begin working until I had to go home to my boyfriend.  I began walking towards the stairs until I saw someone walk in from the stairwell.

"Alex, hey," Maria greets, carrying a stack of papers.  "Saw these were for you. Thought I could bring them up before I go."

"Maria, you are a queen," I tell her, gently taking the stack of papers and placing it on my desk.

"When are you planning on leaving?  It's fifteen after ten," she glanced at the clock.

"I have a ton to do and it's all due tomorrow.  I can't waste a second on anything else," I said.

"Well get home safe, okay?  And text Thomas.  He may be worried," Maria patted my back before heading back towards the stairs.  "See ya' later, Alex."

"You, too.  Get home safe," I called back, sitting back down in my chair and typing once more.

"Why did you stay all night there, again?" Thomas called out as I got home, noticing it was 3 in the morning and I had to be back into work for 7, maybe earlier because I didn't finish the papers. "Do you not care to tell me when you stay there?"

"I'm sorry," I mumble, shrugging off my jacket and placing it on a chair in the dining room. "I know I've been really busy, but I'll make it up to you. This weekend, a date."

I noticed Thomas was sitting on the couch, black circles under his eyes. He looked exhausted, but he was still holding a glare.

"I'm sorry," I repeated, walking towards him and sitting next to him. "I love you, you know this."

Thomas couldn't hold the glare anymore and gently touched my face. He ran his thumb under my eyes and his eyes flickered around my face. "You aren't going to work tomorrow."

"Thomas, I have to go!" I called out, my eyes widening. "My papers are due tomorrow at 3 and I hardly got half of it done-"

"I know," he moved my face so I'm facing towards him once more. "But I love you and care for your health. You haven't slept in weeks since you got this new job. I thought you loved working with George and I."

"I do, but this was a good offer," I mumble. "Plus I needed more money to help pay for rent."

"I told you, you don't have to pay for any of it," Thomas kisses my nose, his eyes full of adoration. "How about you stay home tomorrow, okay? We can go out to lunch on my lunch break and you can come hang out at the office."
