I stared at the audition sheet for the play, Lin Manuel-Miranda. I was wondering if I'd be able to play any of the characters. Maybe Lin Manuel himself, or maybe Leslie. My eyebrows furrowed in thought as the class finally ended.

"Hey, it's time to go," my friend, Thomas Jefferson, told me. I looked at him and nodded, putting my notebook into my bag before standing up. "What's going on? You weren't paying attention during class today."

I looked at Thomas with unsureness. "It's nothing, just something on my mind."

"Are you sure?" Thomas asked, stopping me on the sidewalk outside, where the sun made the breeze bearable. I hesitated, looking at my friend. "Talk to James about it, okay? I know you two like to discuss things more together because you are both mostly the same."

"Thank you, Thomas," I told him quickly before I noticed my boyfriend, Hercules, walking towards me with a red rose in his hand. "I better go."

"Have fun with your boyfriend," Thomas purred and laughed before leaving me with Hercules.

"Hi, Herc," I murmured, my eyes finding his brown ones.

"Hey," Hercules smiled and held out the rose. "I wanted to give you this. It felt appropriate."

I took it with a smile. "Thank you."

Hercules' smile faltered when I caught his eyes once more. "Is there something going on, Aaron?" Hercules mumbled, his eyes searching mine. "Your eyes aren't shining as much as usual."

I look away from his eyes. He put his hand under my chin and moved my face back to where he could see it. "Hey," he mumbled, his other hand finding my cheek. "You can tell me anything."

"I want to try out for the play," I quickly said, my eyes closing.

"That's great!" Hercules got louder, but realized I wasn't smiling. "What's wrong with wanting to try out?"

"I don't want to be laughed at," I explained. "I hate being stared at and laughed at."

"No one will laugh at you, baby," Hercules assures, pulling me into a hug.  Herc rubbed my back slowly, showing he's there for me.  "If you don't want to try out, you don't have to."

I don't reply as I hide my face into his chest.  He kept his hand moving on my back before we heard shouts of his friends.  We slowly separated and I looked at him.  "Go have fun with your friends," I murmured, pushing him off a bit.

Hercules looked at his friends before looking back at me.  "Come, let's go to lunch," he offered me his hand and I took it happily, intertwining fingers with his.

I looked at his friends who were still shouting.  "Let's at least invite them to lunch," I told Hercules who looked at me.

"Are you sure?" Herc asked.  "They're very loud and open about everything."

"I'm sure it'll be fine." I shrug it off.

I stared at the menu as the other boys shouted, laughing loudly and enjoying each other's company. This was a bad idea.
