Rachelle's POV

Summer

Week 5

"Rach, who is that man?" My friend Trisha asked as she watched Jeff walk out with Rosa.

"Just a friend" I shrugged as I handed the customer her coffee.

"If he's just a friend could you set us up? Cause my my my that man is HOT!" She said making me roll my eyes. "I get to work in the morning excited to see him come get your child"

"He wouldn't be interested, Trish" I said as I handed the lady her change.

"What? And how would you know?" She places her hands on her hips.

"Because I just do!" I snapped at her before walking towards the seating area to wipe down some tables.

Even if Jeff was looking for someone I wouldn't want to set him up with anyone. I would love to be with Jeff and give Rosa a happy family. I know I may seem like a bad mom but I do want the absolute best for my daughter. That's why I'm working all the time.

Yeah I get that it was wrong for me to bring that dude around Rosa but I knew that Jeff would be there to protect Rosa if anything did happen. Which it didn't.

The bell rung and I looked up before looking back at the table. I did a double take on who was at the door.

Ethan!

He couldn't see me! I covered my face with my hat scurrying behind the counter, sitting on the floor behind it.

"Girl! If you don't get yo ass up off that floor-"

"Shhh! That boy can not see me!" I whisper shouted, she looked up at him before looking back dow at me. "Please, Trish?" I put my hands together pleadingly.

"Fine!" She sighed.

"Hi can I get two iced coffees with milk?" I heard his familiar voice say. My heart was beating fast, I did not know that Ethan lived around here!

I sat on the floor waiting for Trish to make his order, after that he paid her left a tip and left.

"Explanation please?" Trish asked once I got up.

Jeff's POV

"Do I have a grandma?" Rosa randomly asked as I pushed the cart through the isles of the super market.

"Yes, you do" I said, I started to think about my mom. I hadn't told her that I had left to Cali or that I have a daughter. I wanted to make sure Rosa was mine first so we didn't have a repeat of what happened to me in high school.

A girl tried to pin her pregnancy on me and if it weren't for my mom I would have had to take care of the baby due to the fact that I did not think of taking a DNA test.

"Her name is grandma Mary and you have an auntie too, Auntie Ava" I said and she gasped.

"Where are they!" She said a little too loudly.

"Inside voices, Rose" I said and she apologized.

"Jeff?" A voice called from behind me and I turned around to find Ethan's girlfriend or friend. "Who's this?"

"This is Rosa....my daughter" I was hesitant to tell her because I hadn't told Mavis about Rosa.

"You're joking!" She let out a laugh but stopped when she saw that my face was serious. "Mavis never told me"

"I haven't told Mavis or anyone, don't tell her please. I need to tell her on my own" I said looking back at Rosa who was watching us curiously.

"You haven't told your best friend you have a kid?" Raya asked in disbelief.

"I know it sounds bad but I'm going to tell her" i shrugged.

"Oh really?" She crosses her arms over her chest leaning on one hip. "When?"

"Soon-"

"Moms calling!" Rosa called from behind me.

"I'll do it soon, Raya, don't say anything, please" I gave her a pleading look and she nodded before grabbing a box of cereal off the shelf.

"Thank you princess" I grabbed the phone from Rosa before picking it up.

"Jeff they're kicking us out!" Rachelle shouted as soon as I picked up.

"What?" I asked as I pushed the cart.

"The landlord is having people put our shit out on the side walk!" She cried through the phone.

"What I thought we had till August first!" I stopped walking, what were we going to do!?

"That's what the paper said but apparently we violated some rule and now my couch is on the sidewalk!" She whined.

I rubbed my face thinking of what to do, I didn't have another place to stay. I had no car, barely any money. How was I going to get us out of this?

"I'll be right there" I said before hanging up. I picked Rosa up from the cart leaving the groceries.

"Daddy the food" Rosa whined.

"I know rose but we have to help mommy"

I got to the apartment finding Rachelle outside in tears as movers took her stuff out.

"Hold Rosa" I handed her rose before going inside.

"Excuse me!" I tapped the landlords shoulder he turned around with a scowl. "We still have time here why are you throwing out our things?"

"Your time has ran up! I'm within my legal rights to kick you out. You never pay your rent on time, I've given you multiple chances. Your time is up" he said before turning back around. I grabbed his arm turning him back.

"You gave us until August 1st, it is July we have time!" If we couldn't stay here I have no idea where we could go.

"No I gave you another notice after the first one didn't scare you guys enough to pay rent on time. I gave you until July 1st. It's July 1st!" He pushed past me about to leave the apartment but I grabbed him again.

"We never received another eviction notice!" I looked at him in confusion.

He looked around before spotting the stack of junk mail we kept by the door. He walked over to it before picking out a bright orange paper, shoving it into my hands. "There it is"

As I looked at the paper he left, he was right he did sent another paper.

"Rachelle what is this?" I held up the paper so she could see.

"I thought he was bluffing" she said through tears.

"Oh my god" I buried my face in my hands.

What am I gonna do?
